This new release from Kainani is lovely and amazing. It's got a genuine feel-good atmosphere that makes it appealing to people anywhere (even if they've never been to Hawaii). It breaks away from the traditional Hawaiian music genre and successfully integrates the rhythms and influences of some jazz and blues to give it an overall contemporary feel. This is not your usual tourist-y music. It's the real thing.

Kainani is really one-of-a-kind. It's hard to fit her music into one category. It's contemporary Hawaiian music with many exciting influences, including a touch of jazz and blues, and maybe - maybe - just a smattering of pop music. The songs are far away from old-fashioned - they are truly really innovative. There is a lot of joy in this music, as well as love of culture, place and heritage. Kainani's voice is ultra smooth and a pure pleasure. It's a beautiful CD.
