NaNo Progress and Release Day Acoming!

9:19 AM PST, November 10, 2009

So far, NaNo is going swimmingly. I’m at almost 17k and right on target for the month so far. My heroine is trapped in a man’s body, so you know, all is well.

As for my new story, Pleasure’s Power, it is officially releasing on November 15th! I’m pleased to say that I think it is a fun story with some hawt scenes and a neat little killer bee ending. You’ll just have to see for yourself. Here is a blurb and excerpt for you (nsfw):

Blurb:
All great stories start with once upon a time…

In this time there is a prince, Peter, who loves his kingdom but cannot obey his mother the queen. There is a priestess, Jocasta, whose faith is strong though she has private doubts about the high priestess’s ability to lead. In between them lies the Goddess, who only concerns herself with pleasure and abundance.

When the unlikely lovers meet on a bright spring day, the fate of the kingdom comes to rest in their hands. Can they unite crown and temple and please the Goddess? Or will they be separated by those who seek power over pleasure?

Excerpt:
“Each time I visit with you, Goddess, your presence renews my faith in the land, in you and in your gifts to us.” He paused, then added in ritual form, “What would you have of me, my lady?” He forced himself to look directly into her eyes. The black of her pupils reflected the many multitudes of stars overhead.

“I would have your best ministrations, prince of my realm.”

Peter grinned. Sometimes the Goddess asked for only a gentle touch, a caress. Tonight she seemed to want all of him. Jocasta shivered, pretty goose flesh rising on her arms. “I’m honored to give you pleasure, Lady.” Jocasta once again entwined her hands in his hair and grasped tightly, forcing a gasp from his lips. On strong arms, he pushed himself down over her body, blowing air over her exposed flesh and reveling in the little movements of her reaction.

Faced with her womanhood, he grasped her thighs, one in each hand, and pushed them apart. The milky flesh of her legs quivered as she drew her legs apart, allowing him to access her most secret places. Desire pounded through his body and thrummed in his head, blinding him to all but what lay before him. Lost in passion, he began his worship with a sigh of happiness.

Cover Art and Release Date!

8:34 AM PST, November 2, 2009

My High Priestess story, Pleasure’s Power (new title!) has an official release date!  The story will be available on November 15th–why do I always have releases right in the middle of NaNo?  That’s just weird. Check out my cover art:

Mm nekkid people. Good times.

I need to get on my other computer and post a blurb and excerpt, hope to do that asap. Why are the documents I need always on the other computer?? WHY?!

In other news, NaNoWriMo has started well, day two’s goal is met and I haven’t even written yet today. My day job has gone ahead and gotten busy, so you know, when it rains it pours. But the story is going well so far, and Morgan Freeman made an appearance last night which… I choose to believe is a good omen. Morgan Freeman makes every story cooler, right?

Edits, we have edits!

12:10 PM PDT, September 25, 2009

Woohoo, edits are back on Sun and Moon!

Things I have learned from this round of edits:

1. I use the em dash way, way too much.
2. I have a comma addiction
3. The universal POV is not okay with my publisher. My poor editor had to fix a TON of head hopping as a result, she must think I’m an idiot! Doh!

That last one is kind of a bummer. I work in third person limited all the time, and now I’m starting to feel that all the stories I read have it too. First person seems rare, and the universal “storyteller” type feel is pretty much out. I find myself longing for a change in tone, just for variety. On the other hand, that isn’t to say that I personally did a great job with universal POV. It was tough.

I think the story turned out very sweet with some excessive naughtiness that makes me smile. The editor suggested a sequel, which is always flattering. This was always a one-off in my mind, so I’ll have to think about it.

I’m pleased to have a release on the way and proud of the work. I hope to have news on a release date very soon, and a cover too

Amelia June

Biography

Amelia June writes all manner of stories, some naughty, some less so. She has been writing since the age of five when she self-published her first novel "The Scary Gost." Her writing has been described as everything from "plain" to "intellectual," and she feels like an enigma wrapped in a mystery. Or maybe just schizophrenic. Amelia lives in the desert southwest with eight-yes eight-male creatures including two children, one husband, and an array of critters. She is a student of humanity, loves eavesdropping, and prefers chocolate to just about anything. …
