I pre-ordered a month ago and the release date shipping was $5.98 but when I checked today they've lowered the price to $0.99.

So I looked at my open orders figuring they would automatically adjust mine to the new price.....nope.

If you order Halo Reach from now until release day you'll get the lower shipping price, but if you ordered it months ago like I did it won't automatically update.

So here's how to get it:

Login to amazon.com

Click your account.

View open orders.

Change shipping speed.

Select something other than release date delivery (I chose super free).

Click confirm.

Now go back and change your shipping speed to release date delivery.

Click confirm and you'll have $0.99 release date shipping.

They should send you an email confirming your changes. You can also view your invoice to see the new grand total.

I hope this helps someone.

When I preordered the game I selected same day delivery for when the game comes out. I believe the s&h was 5.98 as you mentioned..so I need to go back in and change the shipping speed to get .99 cents?

Confirmed.

I was charged $5.98 for release date shipping when I preordered the Legendary edition in July. I've made the shipping update (changed to super saver then back to release date, you receive two emails confirming changes). Updated price for shipping is now $0.99. Amazon, I'm not too happy about this...Preorder price guarantee indeed. I guess it only reinforces the fact that you should wait until closer to release date to preorder.

Thanks for the info sc173, you saved me $5!

I'm guessing their "pre-order price guarantee" only applies towards the price of the item, not to shipping charges. Pretty shady if you ask me.

To answer your question Andrew Mohit, yes you should go back and change the shipping to super free, then change it right back to release date. This seems easier to me than contacting customer support about it.

Thanks! Just did this. Hopefully Amazon doesn't pull something where if you paid the cheaper release date delivery, you get it later or something haha

Thanks for tip sc173! I preordered months ago with release date delivery. Nice to get that $5 back, which I guess Amazon wasn't going to do on our behalf.

Yep, I always check my orders closer to the release date for issues like this. As previously mentioned you would think they would automatically update our orders, but no luck.....

Thank you, SC173! Works just fine still on 9/7 and I now have my $0.99 release day shipping. Really, this should automatically update for those of us who reserved it several months ago but still glad its eligible.

Mike Millan says:
Cancel your orders and then reorder it and choose the .99 cent shipping, but if you ordered the "legendary" edition an extra five dollars probably won't matter.

Thanks Sc173, now I don't have to wait so long now.

Thanks dude... I read about the .99 drop but when I checked my order, it was still 5.98 (or whatever). You are saving people lots of money... or lots of people some money. Either way you are awesome. :)

I looked into it and it looks like now all preordered games are offering 99 cent release date shipping because I checked fable 3 call of duty black ops and assassins creed brotherhood
