It's great if you're just looking for a picture book. But the biggest part of Cosplaying is making the costumes and this book has no tips and tricks on using the various materials that go in to putting together costumes. At least one chapter on creating costumes would have been great.

Don't get me wrong, the photos and costumes are well done and pretty, but as source for ideas and information, the internet is just as good and probably better. The title is a misnomer. If I were a cosplay neophyte, looking at pictures of well made costumes would be inspiring but largely uninformative. As a professional costume designer, I am constantly on the lookout for new tips, tricks, and techniques to make my work better and easier. None of that is present in this book, no tutorials, no in-process pictures, no interior peeks at a costume's construction. I'm disappointed that the "author" of book, who prates ad nauseum about the glories and self-satisfaction of good craftsmanship, did not see fit to share any actual knowledge and experience with an audience so hungry to learn and improve.

Not enough Cosplay ideas-- not enough Costume ideas-- not worth the money, Appeared to be a dedication to Cosplay person Yaya Han. No info - only pictures with models names and photograper names. I was disapointments expected more - as to where to find things and how to make Costumes.

Don't get me wrong this is a very nice book to look at. Hours of pretty pictures await you, but that's it.

The title is very misleading as the actual cosplay ideas in here are not even close to 1000. You have several pages featuring one and the same character/outfit 3, 4, 5 or more times (sometimes by the same cosplayer). You have pages with face-shots only where you don't even get the slightest glimpse of the cosplay. You have pictures of cosplays that are either of so low a photography-quality or so highly photoshopped that you don't even get the slightes glimpse of the actual cosplay. You have typos. You clearly have a stock of favourites (I love the German cosplay Isadora but she's not the only German cosplayer, you know). There are many talented people out there that might have been included instead of 20 versions of the same costume.

Everyone in the book deserved to be featured, but the editing is just lazy. Sorry Yaya, I'm a big fan, but that IS lazy editing. :(

This book was put together by the wonderful Yaya Han and I was really excited when it came out. It has a vast array of different cosplays, at different skill levels by many different people. The few criticisms I have are, some of the photos are a bit small to see all the details and there were a lot of repeat cosplays of the same character by different people. I do think its good to see different takes on characters, but 5 different Yokos got a bit repetitive. It does not have anything like tutorials or how to's in it, its just photos and descriptions, but you can get a lot of good ideas how people have brought characters to life.

When we (My girlfriend and I) sent the request to be published in this awesome book we thought we didn't make it but then the publisher contacted us via e-mail saying that our work was featured in this book!!! It has amazing quality both in printing and photography. All the pictures published are awesome and here you can see how much effort cosplayers around the world are putting in this colorful hobby.

I recommend this book to anyone interested both in photography and cosplay as it is a piece of visual art as well as an inspiration for cosplayers.

The only thing I disliked is that the publisher got wrong our country! In the listing and photo credits says we are from Perú, but we are from Ecuador ;)

Nonetheless a very worth purchase!!!

The book delivers just what it says - 1000 incredible costume photos, each with the name of the character, person in the photo and photographer. I have it sitting out at my costume shop so when people have no idea for an outfit I can be like, "Well here's 1000." A few of the photos look like snapshots, but 99% of photography is as impressive as the costumes. I really like that they include several different genres from anime to TV shows, plus original works and some props as well. It's a great overall peek into cosplaying. I'd love to see the idea expanded where you get to learn the story and work behind each costume. Some are so amazing you just want to know more!

Lots of great photos, don't really see where the "ideas" part comes in. There are no words in this book, and no info on how any of the pictured costumes were made. And if you're looking for 1000 different characters, there's many pics of different people as the same characters,
Still fairly enjoyable flipping through seeing all the pics though.
