5.0 out of 5 stars Momma Said There'd Be Days Like This
Tom Friedman's new book is just in time for...um, wait, I knew it a second ago...

Well, whether its on time, late for an appointment, or in completely the wrong place, this book is fantastic. It's a read you won't be able to put down, because you'll want to read about these famous mishaps until you reach the end of the road. It is laugh-out-loud funny, and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Misleading Title!
The book is full of short snippets regarding memory lapses from all ages. It is not a book of anecdotes on Senior Moments at all. There are several funny stories. But if you are purchasing this for a gift for a senior, expecting what the title pronounces, you may be disappointed.

It is laugh-out-loud funny, and your favorite famous person is sure to be in there, and doing something forgetful.

My favorite moment was Mick Jagger's, who, when offered $5 million for his memoirs at age 25....had to return the money because he couldn't remember enough about his own life.

Priceless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't forget to buy this one!, September 18, 2007

Tom Friedman's humorous and well-researched collection of outrageous moments of forgetfulness in business, theater, politics, and every day life is sure to be a favorite. At least, it will make you feel somewhat better about yourself when you forget the keys, a name, or an appointment.

We are in the immortal company of the forgetful Albert Einstein, Doris Day, and Mark Twain, who claimed to be so deteriorated in his faculties that he "cannot remember any but the things that never happened."

This one's a keeper and you'll find yourself quoting from it often!

I think the previous reviewer must have read a different book. He didn't even get the joke of the title! But enough about his review, and on to mine:

I'm so grateful that I don't have to be defensive about my senior moments any more! This book is full of unique, laugh-out-loud historical anecdotes which prove that if Albert Einstein, Yo-Yo Ma, and the gorgeous, young Marilyn Monroe, among others, can have senior moments, then why not the rest of us?

My favorite is about Oprah Winfrey's knock-out display of modesty in, uhhhh.... What was the name of that movie? Ah well, I guess you'll just have to get the book and find the story for yourself. I certainly can't be expected to remember everything. By the way, 1,000 Unforgettable Senior Moments will make a great little stocking-stuffer-type gift. Or the kind of thing you bring to a party when you're not supposed to bring a present, but still want to.

Nice short segments for those whose minds tend to wander... so you can stay on track. Some very interesting senior moments of national importance that I was not previously aware of. Good reading.

I bought this book for my 80 year old Grandmother for mother's day and she's always quoting it to people. It's very funny and informative. It kinda reminds me of watching the opening sequence of a late night show (like Conan or Leno), because it's about real people, but then it makes fun of them, ya know?
Great gift, for a great price.... only wish the print was bigger, because after all it is for old people and my poor granny has to ask someone to read some of it for her at times...

I purchased this book for a friend who just turned 50. I had a chance to read several of the stories, and found that I am in good company with some very famous people. My friend loves the book and when she finds she has lost or forgotten something, she will send me an e-mail comparing herself to someone in the book. It has been great for her.

It has many funny moments. It talks about moments on many famous people as well as people I never heard of before. It makes me feel so much better about my own senior moments which are minor compared to theirs.

This is a painfully funny book. The research is amazing, and the anecdotes of mental lapses by everyone from Archimedes to Mick Jagger are funnier than I wanted them to be, because I recognized myself in them way too often. At least we can get some rueful chuckles as we ride the narrative arc of life.
