Inside this book are 52 short stories I wrote for The Writer's Cramp internet website daily contest. For this prompt contest, we had 24 hours to write a story of no more than 1,000 words or compose a poem that didn't exceed 40 lines. Creativity counted more than correct spelling and grammar, although I am a firm believer in using a spellchecker. My stories, many that won and some that lost, cover a wide range of genres. A few are autobiographical; some are science fiction or fantasy; others eventually became chapters in my published and unpublished novels. I hope you might even find one or two of them amusing enough to elicit a chuckle. I am offering a challenge for anyone reading this collection. If one of the 52 prompts inspires you to write a story, give it a try.

I bought this book on a whim and I am so glad I did. J.A. Buxton shows that a great writer doesn't have to write stories of length to get their point across. This author does it in 1000 words or less, and does it better than most writers I've read. I especially enjoyed the story about getting someone else's mail. (Something is Very Wrong) Both of my children read it and they both had completely different ideas of what animal it was. I enjoyed reading this book and would not hesitate to purchase any of J.A. Buxton's past and future works.

I have read most of the stories. It does not take long to see that she is competent writer but like the title of book, there is little in the way of originality. Obviously, a professional editor has NOT collected these works. It of course was printed by a vanity press, never a good sign. Not one of these has been printed anywhere. The stories are so lack luster, she could not give them away but now she wants you to pay to read them.
