About Mio
The story of Mio began in 1999 when it was created by entrepreneur and mother of three, Liz Dickinson. Like many of us, Liz balances family and career, leaving little time for fitness. After several unsuccessful attempts to achieve her fitness goals and shed the pregnancy weight-gain of her third child, Liz turned to a personal trainer for advice. While working with a trainer, Liz realized the key to getting in shape and staying in shape is to practice smart eating habits, monitoring calorie intake, and using a heart rate monitor to ensure that she exercises at the right level. Liz realized there wasn't a product available on the market that would easily help her follow her trainer’s advice.

Liz didn't have time to read labels and carry a calorie journal in her purse, nor did she have much patience for the uncomfortable chest strap she had to wear to get her heart rate. She knew there had to be a better way, so Liz used her technology and marketing savvy to create Mio, the world’s first heart rate monitor to work without a chest strap. And, it didn't stop with just heart rate, as Mio also has a patented calorie management system that offers a straightforward approach to managing your diet. With the help of Mio and a balanced diet, Liz was able to shed those unwanted pounds and gain the benefits that come with improved fitness: more energy, more vitality, and less stress, and help many others do the same with the creation of Mio's products.

This it a great product, I like it's versatility.

It is a stylish looking watch, but the scratches it has sustained detract from it already.

Then barely a month later it fell apart and stopped working, as in screen went blank.

Documentation is lousy and the watch face scratches VERY easily. I bought it to use as a regular watch plus heart rate monitor...I have only had it a week and a half and the crystal face has several scratches already - probably would be okay if only used when working out. The feature for just touching the metal on the face to get instant heart rate is good but the various levels and sub levels when using the chest strap are very complicated. I still have not figured out how to RESET the readings to zero....

I really like the heart rate monitor. I usually use it without the chest strap, as the straps tend to aggravate me. I have used the chest strap on cardio days when doing intervals so that I don't have to keep taking my heart rate, but while I'm lifting I usually have just the watch part on. This hrm actually has quite a few tools that I haven't used yet.

The only disappointment I have is that "FitStik is compatible with any PC" really means "PC" - the program is not compatible with Apple MacBooks or iMacs (unless you have Windows on it). I wish it would have been spelled out a little more clearly, but the hrm itself is a very good item to have.

Does what it says it does perfectly. So why 3 stars? Screen scratches way too easy. I wore it only a few times and I can't remeber bumping it anywhere but I have a few scratches on the screen. The screen's material is way too soft.

I've been a MIO owner for years, I loved all their watches that let you touch the sensor and not have to wear a chest strap. However MIO's watches have enabled me to run further and attend more classes at my gym where a chest strap would be useful. I bought the energy pro and I love the flexibility of being able to get your heart rate reading form the strap and without the strap if you like. Unlike the other comment, I found the user guide super easy to follow and have had had no problems with the watch face. A great product!

I really like this watch. It does what it says it will do. I have tried a number of other
heart rate monitor watches. This is by far better. It exceeded my expectations.
Wear it every day. I had a open heart operation and I use this for my exercise program. Works great.

I received this watch today in very quick time, good on Amazon as I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. I took it out of the package and set the watch up very easily with minimal reference to the directions. I got to wear and use it for about 7hrs, but only the last about 5min of that was my first workout with it. I started my first round of Jump Rope just to get warmed up and the face of the watch fell off rendering the heart rate portion useless. The construction of this watch is questionable, but I guess I will have to see how good of customer service MIO has with replacing it before I make my final decision on it. For a $90 watch, I am currently unsatisfied.

My wife got me the Mio Energy Pro with Fitstik for Christmas. I opened the new package on 12/25/11 and worked through the somewhat complicated documentation without too much trouble. The reason the documentation is so complicated seems to be that the watch has a TON of features.

The overall design is good though the watch is a little bulky. The wireless chest strap works great.

Unfortunately the metal touch plate surrounding the watch face (the part where you touch to get a heart rate reading) fell off after less than 24 hours out of the box. There is a spring underneath where the touch plate was and I can still touch that to get a reading, but seriously I cannot accept that any product produced using quality manufacturing techniques would have parts falling off after only a few hours of use.

I contacted Mio Global customer service via email and was told I have to ship my watch to them for repairs. I will have to pay to ship the watch to them and they will get it back to me within 7 to 10 working days. Since this is inside the 1 year warranty they will *probably* cover repairs and return shipping.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the watch, the chest strap, and the various features, but I'm not impressed by what appears to be poor craftsmanship or perhaps a design flaw. If this happened to me after a day, think what will happen to everyone who uses one of these for a year. I will probably fix it myself with jewelry glue instead of having to wait a week or more to use it.

I ordered this product and it seemed fine. Then barely a month later it fell apart and stopped working, as in screen went blank. Then a few days later the screen came back on but now the buttons do not work. I very disappointed, especially for the money I spent on this item. I want to know what can be done, if anything?
