Twice the Villains. Twice the Action

Our story begins deep in murky, watery depths. You're James Bond, and you're drifting, unconscious. You don't know why – only that you’re struggling for your life like never before. In moments of cognizance, you recall epic moments from the last 50 years. The harrowing chases. The uber-villains. The exotic locales. The girls. What will be your legend if this is the end?

An Iconic 007 Gameplay Experience

In 007 Legends, you'll take on the role of James Bond as played by Daniel Craig, running missions in the most iconic settings of 007's five-decade film history. The places and times remain classified, but each retains the look and feel of the original movies, updated with reimagined characters, expanded gameplay and exciting new plotlines. Which brings us back to your current predicament. The clock is ticking. Will this be yet another close brush with death, or has your remarkably good luck dried up at last? Only you can answer that, Mr. Bond.

Key Game Features

  • Skills - Use your sharp investigative and surveillance skills to hack computers, crack safes, review classified documents and gather Intel Employ the game's stealth-based mechanics -- and your own intelligence -- to do it all like a real covert operative.
  • Action - What would a Bond adventure be without incredible chases and intense fights? Step up the action with Bond's first-rate fighting skills and engage in dynamic freeform melees. Immediate responsiveness and 60-frame-per-second graphics make this the most gripping and interactive Bond experience to date.
  • Gadgets, Weapons and Vehicles - Bond's incredible weapons, gadgets and signature vehicles will be at your disposal as the world's ultimate spy. Take complete control of your vehicle or choose a guided experience to focus more on weapons, gadgets and other action.
  • Missions and Villains - Relive the world-famous spy's most iconic and intense undercover missions from the entire Bond film franchise, including 2012's highly anticipated new installment, "Skyfall."
  • 007 Experiences - Complete different assault, elimination, espionage and defense objectives. Access unlockable and upgradable gadgets and weapons. Customize your experience with the companion AI, which allows for varied gameplay and additional storytelling.
  • A Diverse Multiplayer Experience - Should you choose to team up with (or against) other gamers, the multiplayer campaign offers 12-player online, and 4-player split-screen multiplayer options locally. Players can also challenge friends online on the MI6 Ops leaderboard.

Before I start the review, have you seen the awful box-art? That is hands down the worst box-art I have ever seen from a game, Zombie 8-bit Craig followed by print-screened images from the movies, that will set the tone for this review.

I think we can all agree there has been some great Bond games, Goldeneye 64, Nightfire, Everything Or Nothing etc, these games were all published by EA (except Goldeneye 64), but sadly EA sold the rights to the franchise to Activision. Since then what 007 games have we got? Quantum Of Solace (COD clone), Goldeneye Wii (terrible remake of the amazing Nintendo 64 classic and COD clone), Goldeneye Reloaded (same as the former except 60fps, wow!) Bloodstone (decent, but of course Activision closed the developer as soon as it was released, they love to kill good games!) and now 007 Legends. Lets just say that the WHOLE experience is Goldeneye Reloaded, that was already ridiculously linear, made even more-so. The story has been completely retold in order for it to make sense for a game that will take you an hour or so to finish, I am a die-hard Bond fan and seen as this is Bonds 50th anniversary this is a complete insult. Also It's worth noting that I despise the Call Of Duty games, as if Activision didn't churn out enough COD **** with no effort put into development at all, they have to inject this IP with it's terrible gameplay. Also, even though Activision said that Daniel Craig would voice act as Bond, he doesn't, the actor they have got to replace him sounds absolutely nothing like Mr Craig, and is cringe-worthy at times. Bond's catchphrase has been ruined in the game, "Sorry, I didn't catch your name Mr...", to which bond replies "James Bond", IT'S "Bond, James Bond", get it right!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth the money October 18, 2012

The game is certainly not worth the $60. I see that Amazon reduced the price to $54. Still not worth it. Frame rate issues, PS2 graphics, and the multiplayer isn't even fun. Don't waste your money, but if you want to try it, rent it first.

EDIT:

I played through the entire game on Agent difficulty with the Modern health system. The game plays like a rushed Call of Duty, the load times are terrible. I have to wait 20-30 seconds after each death for the game to load into my last checkpoint. Also, Jinx from the Die another Day section of the game doesn't even share Halle Berry's likeness. Nor the woman in Moonraker doesn't share the likeness from the actress from the film. This game is probably hands down the worst game I've ever played, and I thought 007 Reloaded was bad..

1.0 out of 5 stars Where are the subtitles? October 16, 2012

Where are the subtitles? This is the 50th anniversary of 007. How could you not have subtitles option? I brought this as a gift for my Nephew, Eliot, who is deaf and a 007 collector. He said the game is good, but where are the subtitles? October is Disability Month. 4 stars because the game has no subtitles option.007 Legends

UPDATE: After two days of trying to play the game and get the full effect without subtitles, my Nephew Eliot is highly disappointed. He says, the game was rush and is a bunch of mess. With the technology that we are currently using, what did Activision use? The Dark Ages? What? This is 007 50th Anniversary surely they could have produce a product worthy of the 007 name. The game should be recalled and redesigned. Refunds should be given and the company should provide a $60.00 gift card to all of us who have been deceived. We are currently in a state of illusion. Ratings has been changed to 1 stars.

Best James Bond PS3 Game? Be the first to reply
Activision using the same COD business plan?
Looks like it. And as much as I love the 007 films and COD games "007 Legends" just looks like another Call of Duty with a James Bond license stamped on it. I still want to give it a shot when it comes out, but after that awful remake of Goldeneye I'm not expecting much.
