We bought this for our 5 yr old when he started school. Everytime ANY of the cones are moved it messes one of the settings. This alarm clock is cute, but not worth the hassles of having to reset the time and alarm every day.We kept it just for the radio, otherwise it would be in the trash.

I'll be putting this alarm clock in our garage sale. This clock is adorable but not practical. There are actually too many buttons (cones) for my son to choose from so he is unable to learn with this clock. The light up display is big enough but not bright enough. The McQueen voice is fun and pretty clear but again, not practical in an alarm clock. And, even though my son was excited about receiving it, he could hardly ever enjoy it because it was too difficult to use. I had trouble even setting the alarm and time because the instructions were cumbersome and not clear. So if I, as an adult, can't work the clock then my five-year is obviously going to have some trouble with it too. We found a better clock through amazon which is a Batman Alarm Clock. And even though it didn't come with an am/fm radio like I originally wanted, the clock works great and my son enjoys being able to hit the "snooze" button himself. Plus, Batman should last us a few years where McQueen was great when it came out but is already getting outgrown.

I bought this clock for my son for his 6th birthday in July and have been very disappointed with it. It's very hard to set even for an adult (and I'm pretty technology proficient). My son can't set it at all. And as the other review says, if you hit any of the cones, it messes up the clock, even if you are just trying to snooze it or turn on/off the alarm. We also can't get the radio to come in very well and you can only seek in one direction to set the radio so if you want a particular station and miss it, you have to go all the way around again. Right now I'm on-line looking for a new clock for my son as a holiday present. This may stay on his dresser as it looks cool but it will be unplugged.

We got this for our 6 year old, for his birthday. What a mistake. We can't get the hourly alarm talking mode to stop going off. the time won't stay set. What a waste of money. This is on the dresser, sitting with the wrong time - or something it just reads 5:48 all the time. Total waste of money. I should unplug the thing and just let it collect dust.

My mother-in-law bought this for my 5-year-old son for Christmas. It's a nice looking clock and sounds decent. However, it is virtually unusable. It has, I think, 7 cones on it for control buttons. However, you have to use exactly two of them to set the time, the alarm time, the alarm on/off and the date. I'm an engineer and it takes me time to figure out how to do it. There's no way my 5-year-old can. And for him, he'll just hit the cones and change something and then you have to reset everything.

Also, with the radio, it's not AM, only FM, despite the description. And there are no presets or even an indicator of what channel you're on. All you have is a Scan button. Hope you don't miss the channel you were looking for.

This is just a very poorly designed clock. It looks nice, but I can't imagine they let anyone try to use it before they put it in mass production.

I bought this clock from a warehouse outlet (for 90% cheaper than shown on this website) and as soon as i plugged it in i knew it was being returned. Half the numerals were missing (the 8 looked like an E) and good luck trying to set the time! A horribly designed radio, what a disappointment.

Possible BURN CAUTION for children. Purchased for a 6 year old for Christmas. The box displays the time numbers as brightly lit but there's not a chance of this happening when using the batteries because the numbers barely show up. So, wanting to see brightly lit numbers, as displayed on the box, my husband opened the battery compartment to make sure we had correctly placed the batteries and, when we saw that the battery placement was not the problem, we then switched to plugging in the adapter (but kept the battery cover off). To our delight, we now had brightly lit numbers but WHOA!!!...we also were handling the clock like a hot potato because of how HOT the batteries became!!! The batteries got whopping hot!!! We re-read the directions to see if there was a warning about the necessity of taking the batteries out when using the adapter, but there was no warning of how horribly HOT the batteries become. This product deserves no stars and is another example of how products are unregulated and lack quality when made outside of the USA (It's the 3rd product made in a foreign country that we have found to be defective in just the last two months!!! That's a disturbing trend!) Since we are not at all confident about continuous use of a product using an adapter (adapters tend to get warm to the touch also, thus, I've always used adapters only when they need to be plugged in temporarily and used under supervision), I'm now on the search for an alarm clock with a plug-in electrical cord with the proper UL listing.

My wife bought this alarm clock for our 4 year son when he was in the Lightning McQueen "Cars" stage. It is great to look at. The sounds it makes do replicate the ones made in the movie. That's the best I can say about this clock...

I have to echo "AVK" that said it is poorly designed. Every time I deal with it I want to throw it in the garbage. We need to keep the manual underneath it because the keys to use it are not intuitive. If someone touches something you need to figure out what they did and try to undo it. There is no "sleep" program on this, you can never tell what station it is on, and setting an alarm is unduly complex. We'll be finding something else soon.

My background is that I have a Master's in Computer Science and my wife has a Engineering degree and we need to read the manual every time. I do like tinkering with computers and whatnot but not my son's alarm clock right before going to bed when he has stayed up too long already.

I have to agree with the above folks. This clock is near impossible for myself to work, much less my 8 yo. It looks cute, but that's about it. The cone's are way too sensitive, they make no sense as how to work (you can only figure it out by trial and error).

If I could do this over, I would not purchase this clock.

I was looking for a cute little clock for by son's car and truck theme room. He loves Lightning so Santa brought it to him for Christmas. I was amazed at how big it is! We wanted it for his night table, but it takes up most of the space so we had to find a new spot. I though the car on top would be matchbox size - but it is enormous. It is a little too much - had I seen it in real life I would not have purchased it.
