The prong on the original charger for my 210 netbook broke and HP refused to cover it under their warranty. That started my search for a replacement. Finding few options, and most far more than I wanted to spend, I took a gamble on this one, despite the mixed reviews. It worked beautifully for a few months, but then I started noticing that the charge was inconsistent. It would flicker on and off during charging and I'd have to check the connections and jiggle the prong in the socket to get it to connect.

Despite the annoyances, I kept using this product. Soon after, I began noticing a smell not unlike a curling iron. I realized it was coming from the charger. The "box" section in the middle of the cord was so hot that I BURNED my finger on it. The light was flickering and you could tell it was under extreme stress. After that, I was afraid to charge my netbook while sleeping or away from home. I'm glad I decided on that, because a few minutes ago, I caught a whiff of the "curling iron" odor again, only stronger. I realized the reason it was stronger was because the plastic housing on the "box" section was melting and my SOFA WAS BEING SCORCHED. If I had been charging overnight, this could easily have started a fire.

I don't lightly give a product a bad rating, but this is just downright UNSAFE. Please, do what I should have done in the first place. Spend a little more and get a SAFE charger for your netbook.

Edited to add: I reported the safety issues to Amazon and their customer service department was very prompt in replying to me. The issue is being reported via the proper channels and hopefully this unsafe product will be discontinued before anyone does have a fire.

Save yourself the trouble and buy a real one. This cord worked fine for a few weeks then out of the blue started on fire today. My brother usually has the netbook on or around his bed - thankfully it was in the kitchen and right next to me when it happened. It could have ended much worse.

Seriously - considering the price was only $15 for the a knock-off version of the same power supply that HP wants $50 for and Best Buy wants $100... I was willing to take the risk and give it a whirl.

I'm REALLY glad that I did!

I'm using this for my HP 1000 (1116nr)... it doesn't fit in the power-port 100% perfectly (it falls out easily) but it fits well enough to be worth the price and it works!

No complaints! Thank you!

My husband bought this product under my account, and unfortunately, the thing only lasted about two weeks before it died. I then went to HP and re-ordered one for him straight from the company. I would honestly have to say, don't waste your time buying the generic version here when the HP version is only $15 more and works much better.

This is a great replacement for the HP version of the adapter.

The section of cord between the transformer and laptop seems to be slightly shorter than the original version, but it's also a bit thicker and seems higher quality. The one I received also included a velcro cord wrap; similar to the original and not shown in the photo above.

The only significant difference between this and the original is the lack of a ground prong on the transformer and wall plug- something that's clearly shown in the photo, but I didn't notice until I'd compared it to the one I'd broken.

I've had this charger less than two months and in that time, it has charged and provided a temporary fix, but it's not good for permanent and constant use. It overheats and the power pack part gets heat bubbles and warps. It's a fire hazard and not good if you have little kids around because they could get burnt from it as hot as it charges. Mine even started smoking. It's not worth it. Buy the name brand for it from HP, it's more dependable and less of a fire hazard.

This item does not work. I bought it twice, and returned it twice. After one charge the plastic starts melting and the charger deforms.

I bought two of these about 6 months ago. One of them is still working, yet I have to keep readjusting the plug because it tends to stop charging. The other just died a couple of months after purchase. If you decide to go for a cheap version (which sounds practical), I'd recommend trying another seller because this product is clearly hit-and-miss... and when something that cost $15 doesnt work after two months, you do not go into the trouble of returning it, you just throw $15 into the garbage and buy another one.
