5.0 out of 5 stars The Purple Room, September 16, 2009
This review is from: 1-900-A-N-Y-T-I-M-E: A Novel (Paperback)
Twenty-three year old Bertha Sampson is severely disfigured. Born crippled and deformed, an effect of Gulf War syndrome. Bertha may not have been blessed with looks but she sure was blessed with a beautiful, soulful, voice. A voice that will hold listeners captivated.

Unfortunately, Bertha, chooses to cut herself off from the outside world. Spending her days and nights holed up in her two-bedroom apartment. One bedroom she refers to as the "sick room", the other being converted into the "purple room." The "purple room" is strictly for her alter ego, Bliss. The sensual, erotic part that lays hidden inside Bertha.

Bliss is Bertha's persona behind the telephone of her private hotline...1-900-ANYTIME. A place that men or women can call to fulfill some of their most erotic, sexual fantasies over the phone. There is: the married woman that has a sexual fetish that her husband is unable to fulfill, the man that has never had a girlfriend because of a deep secret that he has been carrying, the rapper that has a secret that could ruin his career, the married man who's wife is knocking on death's door and to the Asian man that has anger issues towards whites and blacks alike. Each person has their own individual reasons why they call Bliss' hotline. One person wants to harm her...another, to love her. What happens when her real identity is revealed?

1-900-ANYTIME by Tracy Price-Thompson is a novel about love, hate, jealousy and finding one's self. One thing I want to share with you all...I don't eat Chinese food for a reason (laughing), although I realize that things like this happen anywhere. You got to read the book to find out what I am talking about. I read this book in a day and a half...so if you are looking for a quick and original story...this is your read!

I love everything Tracy Price-Thompson writes! Mrs. Price-Thompson touched on so many "in the closet" topics in this book, such as racism, sexuality, hate & phone sex operators. I like the fact that she said things in this book, wheather true or fabricated, that so many of us think about everyday but don't necessarily speak about. I love how her books make you think and then give you the unexpected. Great job Mrs. Price-Thompson...keep em coming and I'll keep a reading!

This review is from: 1-900-A-N-Y-T-I-M-E: A Novel (Paperback)
I've read all of Tracy Price-Thompson's books; I own just about all of them; and I'm always looking forward to her next offering. 1-900-ANYTIME did not disappoint. As usual, Mrs. Thompson created a unique storyline, this one about a severely disabled woman who lives out some of her fantasies as her alter-ego "Bliss." Bertha Sampson is a phone-sex professional and as Bliss, she has amassed a loyal following, because she's sexy, sultry, and every man's (or woman's) secret, anonymous fantasy. But what happens when the truth about the life she lives is discovered? In a series of twists and turns, Bertha Sampson's normally predictable, otherwise trying life is turned upside down, along with that of several of her clients, and she'll never be the same.

I sat down with this book yesterday evening and finished it yesterday night. The pages kept turning themselves and my eyes just couldn't stop reading. That is, until the very last page, by which time I was thoroughly entertained and very optimistic that Bertha had found her niche and, possibly, a happily ever after.

Now, how long do I have to wait for the next TPT bomb to drop? LOL

4.0 out of 5 stars "Heavenly Bliss!", December 6, 2009
This review is from: 1-900-A-N-Y-T-I-M-E: A Novel (Paperback)
To me Bliss, nee' Bertha Jean Sampson was is an incredible person. Sure she was a phone sex operator but her physical disabilities didn't stop her from doing what she had to do to take care of herself. Her "clients" oh my goodness...I was very fond of Chinese food, now uh I don't know...
