5.0 out of 5 stars The composer that we forgot to remember, September 9, 2001
This review is from: Edition 1 (Audio CD)
Well, this recording was
a first time for me. Before
this I have only heard one
short motet by this master.
I admit that I was very curious,
and surprise when I heard some
of his works in this disc. In
his music you can hear the middles
ages, but you can also hear the
renaissance.There are several mass
movements in this recording, probably
from a now lost extended mass. Dunstble's
music is enigmatic, and etheral.I can't
think of a reason of why posterity
has not been fair with Dunstable.
The Clemenic Consort, conducted by
Rene Clemenic(Its founder) take us
on a musical tour back to the
late middle ages, and they do a very
good job, Mr. Clemenic plays on a Gothic
organ. The notes are good, they do not
offer much on the history of the composer,
because very little is known about Dunstable.
Wonderful recordng, great music, highly
recomended...
