This album melts into your soul...,
By Louise Cordova (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Volume 1 (Audio CD)
Before Jack Johnson was strumming his guitar on the radio and girls swooning to his every word, he was a young surfer kid who liked to take surf trips and hang out with his friends. He and his friends, the Malloys, made surf movies of their adventures and would use original music as the sounds that set the mood for the footage that they would capture on the road. Another one of their friends was Todd Hannigan. He was a musician and fledgling producer that was one of the first to record Jack at Brotheryn Studios, creating some of the most raw and intimate recordings to date, and a major influence behind these critically acclaimed movie sound tracks. Most notably writing and performing the title track to Thicker Than Water. Finally, Todd has stepped out from behind the controls and released an album of his own. Volume 1 is a journey that takes you to far away places and melts into your soul. This collection of work is more reminiscent of Nick Drake or Cat Stevens, than Bubbly Toes, producing sounds inspired by a life spent on one of America's most picturesque coastlines.
