4.0 out of 5 stars Old jokes from my childhood, January 30, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I owned this book when I was a child in the 1950's and bought it for my father-in-law who is 94. Since he is often comatose during my visits, I pick up this volume to read. Many of the jokes are still funny, especially the ones towards the end of the book with unintentionally humorous headlines, (Man found bound and hanged; foul play suspected) news stories with typos, and limmericks. The jokes also show just how much our society has changed in its customs. Many of the ethnic jokes would be considered inappropriate for their stereotypes and criticism of race and ethnicities. If you are concerned about racy jokes and inappropriate materials for children, no need to worry since they are all quite tame even when hinting at topics like courtship and seduction. Finally, it's a massive tome for a quite reasonable price from many vendors.

It was more than I expected and in much better condition as well. I will enjoy this one for a long time. It is one of those things you can lay on the coffee table and share the laughs.
