The Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard Pocket Guide

Jeff Carlson

Jeff Carlson's OSX Snow Leopard Guide is a fast read that packs a lot of tips into a book of its size. Even a seasoned Mac user will find this book a worthwhile buy. Its chapters cover the most basic features of OSX Snow Leopard, right on through to security and backup savviness. I wish other books were as portable.

To put it succinctly, I've used something from this little book everyday since I got it and it's been much more useful than any of the bigger more comprehensive books. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Guide for Your Mac, January 14, 2011
This review is from: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Pocket Guide (Paperback)
Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is as of this writing the latest iteration of Apple's revolutionary operating system. It is the operating system that comes preinstalled on all Macs, and it is the interface through which you get to interact with your computer. Like all other editions of OS X, it combines the ease of use with a powerful and stable underlying Unix-based engine.

This Pocket Guide aims to take some mystery out of the Snow Leopard. It is written with a regular user in mind, and it is a very accessible and convenient little book. It covers all the important topics that any Mac user would come across: setting up your preferences, navigating the file system, using applications and customizing the dock, working with media, using some of the more common apps and utilities, printing and troubleshooting. The book is easy to navigate and its small size makes it an ideal handy reference. The only setback with the size is that most of the screenshots are too small and perhaps not as useful as they could have been in a larger format book.

Overall, this is a very well written and useful guide to Mac and OS X 10.6.
