my review...22 years later about Quino's master piece.,
By A Customer
This review is from: 10 Años con Mafalda (Paperback)
When I first read "Mafalda" I was about 6 years old. That afternoon I have had an eye-exam, so the doctor put me those drops that make you see funny. So I asked my sister to read something from our newest book, a gift from our youngest uncle, so she did. She had some troubles with such unusual 'bedtime' story, every page she turned just kept more awake, and we laughed together with jokes we didn't really understand in their full meaning. Next morning at school my classmates asked me about the eye-exam, but my inmediate reply was about that thick book my 8 years old sister couldn't hold still... 'you know that be are upside down, and so many ideas drop out from our head to the space because of that...' and invented my own story of the what I heard the night before. We simply enjoy it all: the drawings, Mafalda's friends, the little turtle (burocracy), the soda-motion, her imagination was inspiring for us. I was so much cautivated by this caracter, that Mafalda became part of my games. Some years later (22 to be exact), I decided to send a gift to my sister for her 31st birthday, so I picked that book, that was 2 months ago... and still I keep telling myself 'this X-mas after I have read and lived again every emotion this book has awaken on me at age 6, at age 10, at age 15, at age 27... I will definetly give my sister this fine present' (will I?) It is wonderfull to share with the family and friends, it's a complete synopsis (pardon me for such a timid word) about the 60's and early 70's.

Not as good as "Todo Mafalda",

This book is good, but I bought it thinking it was the complete collection of comics as you can find in little books (12 issues). This is not the complete collection, therefore, I think that "Todo Mafalda" is better.

Timeless comic,

I grew up reading Mafalda, and it is amazing to see how the political and social criticism that made us laugh 20 years ago still as valid today as it was back then. I was expecting the complete collection of stories, this volume provide you only with a sample of the best of them. But still a great collectors edition item.
