Thanks For A Wonderful Album,
By JOSE I. L. "Josefo Sefo" (Navarra, Spain) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 10 Ar Med Agnetha (Audio CD)
I love it, though it took me some time and several listenings. I don't undertand the Swedish lyrics but it's all right: that even helps me focus on the music itself, the arrangements and -of course- Agnetha's vocals. I like almost every song in the album but let me choose "Thanks For A Wonderful Day" among my favourite ones (in spite of the guitar bit at the end!). Most of the songs are not the kind of thing many people might think of when talking about a former ABBA member. I mean they can be better or worse than the ABBA ones but they're different stuff (remember "Desillusion" in RING RING).
The tracks were recorded since 1968 to 1979. The older ones feature A. Fältskog singing with a voice hard to recognise as her own. Nine of the sixteen melodies in "Tio Ar Med Agnetha" were written by her, plus three of the lyrics.

I have played disc over and over. Sound is great, very much 60's style and in my opinion far better than her solo albums in the '80s. The only negative factor is I have no idea what she is saying (all in Swedish). Never the less, a great disc to own if you are a Agentha fan.

Much of the hits by abba were written by the 2 boys (benny and bjorn),little is known about the songwriting ability of agnetha. the first track off the album is her very first single and her very first hit. nearly all of the songs are written by her. for the abba completist, there's the swedish version of s.o.s. sadly, this is also her last original album for the (swedish) columbia label

I really loved this CD, Agnetha has such a beautiful voice, even though it is in Swedish, it is still enjoyable, I like the Swedish version of I Don't know how to love him and SOS, also the one I enjoyed most is Nar du tar mej I din Famn, this song really grew on me.

Agnetha Falkstog had a recording career long before ABBA was formed. Her voice on some of the earlier hit recordings found here is breathtaking, as for example on her Swedish-language cover of "I Don't Know How to Love Him." The tunes are all good. I thought it was especially interesting to see how they paralleled American arrangements of the same time. And don't miss the Swedish-language version of ABBA's hit, "SOS." Great buy.

It's never ABBA, but it's still Agnetha. I love her voice, and if you do, you'll find songs that make you wish you could hear her sing every day of your life.

Agnetha Faltskog is the Best Singer on Earth ...,

This CD proves the obvious; that Agnetha Faltskog is the best female singer on the planet.
That the CD is in Swedish does not matter; she could sing in any language and sound wonderful. A must have for those who need to complete their collection.

This a compilation of Agneth'a best Swedish songs. It has an attractive cover, front and back. Inside, are photographs and text pertinent to each song. 16 photos trace Agnetha's evolution from a teenager to a mature woman.
Agnetha told how her first hit, Jag Var Sa Kar, came to be. She sent a tape to a record producer in Stockholm. He called to set up a session. She thought her band was playing a trick on her. Finally, she and her father made their way to Stockholm. Once in the studio, Agnetha heard her song. Her dream was coming true. Zigenarvan was controversial. It came at a time when gypsies were causing trouble in Sweden. Agnetha wrote the melody. It conjures visions of dancing gypsies. I have a video tape of Agnetha rehearsing I Don't Know How To Love Him for Jesus Christ Superstar. What I notice, is her bell bottoms and all that hair. Golliwog (Darling) is the English lyric for Gulleplutt. It was her first solo record in English. The flip side is Here For Your Love. Both are dipped in honey. |
