Praise for 10 Bits of My Brain:
"Stuart's work defies pigeon-holing. All of these pieces, though, show a master storyteller at the top of his art." - from the introduction by David B. Coe"It's fun to sink into these worlds and absorb the dos and dont's as we watch [Jaffe's] characters break the rules. Jaffe writes clearly, but with language that's uncommon and fun, often with unexpected twists of meaning." - McKenna Donovan, an Amazon reader.
Overview:

I bought this collection of short stories on a whim and was not disappointed. I'm not always a sci-fi or fantasy reader, but the stories are quite enjoyable. I loved that the author gave a short blurb at the end of each story about his reasoning for writing it or placing it in this collection. My favorite bit of Jaffe's brain? "A Full Life in Twenty-Four Hours"
If you are looking for something that can take you from contemplation to laughter to tears to wonder all in one collection, buy this book!

Stuart Jaffe has the ability to present an in depth perspective of each of his characters in " Ten Bits of my Brain". He twists and weaves his characters in simple terms ( yet complex angles) to create a great final product. His work is exceptional!

I found Stuart Jaffe's collection, 10 Bits of My Brain, stands out from amongst the many short story collections based on his imaginative use of setting and character. Each story sets up its own world--whether from history (with a magical twist) or from a future edge of the galaxy (in a tattoo parlor and alien Mafioso)--each story comes with its own rules and expectations. It's fun to sink into these worlds and absorb the dos and dont's as we watch his characters break the rules. Jaffe writes clearly, but with language that's uncommon and fun, often with unexpected twists of meaning. He paints scenes with such vividness that I shall never again pass a park bench without expecting to see a chess set and two men, one of whom never speaks.
As many books as there are yet to read, this is a collection I would read more than once. Oh, wait! I have read it more than once.
