THE BEST YET !,
By MysteryIndustryPro (LA and Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 10 (Audio CD)
Let's first get it straight: no matter what preconcieved notions you may have about what these guys are about, DON'T fall for the so-called "similar genre" stuff that compares them to primarily 80's hair metal bands (like Warrant, Poison, etc., etc.). Perhaps a few songs many years ago (especially due to ex-guitarist Derek Frigo's obnoxious, non-stop, cocaine fueled adventures in whammy bar land), but a much more accurate and most well deserved comparison would be The Beatles, with an indefinable twist and charm of thier own. Being fortunate enough to have spent a great deal of time close to Chip and Donnie, I want to address something that most others seem to miss: these 2 guys are without a doubt among the most talented and intense musicians in the business (just ask the endless parade of professionals from Eddie Van Halen to McCartney himself!); through all the years and all the insanity, Chip's tremendous personal strength and ability (look up a bio of the band's history of the ups and downs) and Donnie's pure genius, they have created something truly special. OK! Now the review of "10"...fantastic! Even the work they did with Clive isn't up to this level. The opener, "There Goes My Heart", has a great "Got To Get You Into My Life" feel to it,setting the tone for a very Beatlesque album overall...each person will have different favs (mine would be the opener, Your Heart's No Good, Fly Away, Wake Up, Suicide, and Holiday), but what makes this such a great album is mostly the subtle things that alone may seem insignifigant, but together add up to create some great sounds...not that "wall of guitar" sound, but interesting textures and mixes, lots of little surprises...the kinds of songs that you make new discoveries with each listen. Combine that with great writing and singing from Donnie, and Chip's incredible grasp of not only the bass, but everything that you hear; the movement, the tones, the "vibe". I have tried to give an account here that will hopefully be more helpful than most people's "I like it/I hate it" type of review. I feel that it's important to try to give an intelligent account of music like this, especially when they have been swept aside mistakenly by people's incorrect first impressions. Do yourself a favor and get this CD, and see what your're missing!

I have been a Z'Nuff fan for about 13 years. These guys are great. This is just another fabulous album from a top-notch band. Buy it and you will not be disappointed.

A Great Album, and one of EZN's best!,
By Taylor Sapp (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews

Enuff Z'Nuff has always been one of my favorite groups since their self-titled first album, and between that album and this one, they gone back and forth between heavieness (Animals with Human Intelligence, Paraphenelia), lighter more beatlesque sounds (Seven, Peachfuzz), and darker, more contemplative music (Tweaked and Strengh). Through it all, I've always found all of it extremely interesting, and although I know many fans of the band that didn't like SEVEN or TWEAKED I enjoyed both those albums immensely. 10 falls on the lighter side of the bands register, although its much darker than SEVEN, and more polished than TWEAKED. This is actually the most commercial album the band has made since their debut, and in many ways that's a good thing. "There Goes My Heart", the opening track for the album, is a pure pop song, kinda along the vein of Cheap Trick's "I want you to Want Me". The song is fantastic, and starts off the album well, being the most viable single. From there the album goes into the fantastic melodic rocker "Fly Away" and the darker "The Beast". This album, like every Enuff album, is remarkably consistent. The strongest song, in my opinion, without question, is the powerful angry ballad "Wake Up". The band was reported as calling the song their "Stairway to Heaven" and its easy to make the association. This is a slowly building, emotional epic, and quite possibly the best song of the bands career. 10 is an extremely strong Enuff Z'Nuff album, which may not be as heavy as Paraphenalia (which was amazing), but its both lighter and more emotional, and worth every cent for any Enuff Z'Nuff fan.

Enuff Znuff get a 10+ for "10",
A Kid's Review

Enuff Znuff finally did it. When they recorded 10, they made the perfect pop record for a worldwide rock and roll audience. When you hear this record, you'll soon wonder why the hell this band isn't HUGE. When one first listens to the opening track, "There Goes My Heart," you just can't help but think of Lennon and McCartney and their ability to write hits and make girls scream. This song, if it ever gets on the radio, should be the vehicle to allow Enuff Znuff to once again be noticed by the record buying public and return to the stature they held in 1991 when Rolling Stone Magazine named them Best New Band. With an upbeat and vibrant video CD-Rom on this disc, "There Goes My Heart" is destined to be a smash hit. Fans of the poppier side of rock will love this record and tracks like Allright, Holiday and Your Heart's No Good But I Love Your Face, which will get your feet tapping and your head bobbing. There's something for rockers as well, like the driving melodies of Fly Away and the driving guitars of former Znuff axeman, Derrick Frigo on "Bang On." On a more somber note, Enuff Znuff hit a homerun with "Suicide," a short, sweet and sad song that sucks you in with its George Harrison style slide guitar work. Whether you've loved Enuff Znuff all along, or haven't thought of them since 1991, you're gonna love this album and wonder why they aren't megastars.

Another winner from EnuffZnuff,

This cd is one of the best from this underated band. Production sounds great and songs are very good. I thank this band for making great music even without the much deserved airplay. Reminds me of when I listened to Metallica before the black album and noone seemed to like them. Then they got big and fans started to buy the music they had missed from years back. Well I don't have to do that with EnuffZnuff either since I already know how good they are. Anyway, favorite tracks here are "There Goes My Heart","Fly Away","Suicide",and"Your Hearts No Good" but all the songs are good and I am sure my favs will change over time. The cd actually has the song "Everything Works If You Let It" and a CD ROM Video "There Goes My Heart" which I did not know where on here when I ordered it so thats a cool bonus.

GREATNESS,
By ADAM M LENHARDT (ANTIOCH, TN United States) - See all my reviews

This album was released in japan before the U.S. so i assume they are much more popular in japan..it's a shame they aren't huge here in the states because Enuff Z Nuff continue to amaze..they are my favourite band of the 90's and have continued to create incredibly catchy, poppy power rock (you'd think radio-friendly, but no..they couldn't get airplay if their lives depended on it). The harmonies are incredible..almost ever single song they have ever put out sounds like it should be a hit single. I am absolutely amazed that they are virtually unknown to the mass record buying public. I hear such crap from new bands that goes straight to the top of the charts, yet this brilliant music coming out of this little band from Chicago goes largely unnoticed. a travesty. anyways, 10 is just another great record filled with great songs from this band, and I expected nothing less. they are awesome and i hope they never stop making music. for me and other fans, we truly cherish Enuff Z Nuff..it's like a little secret we have..that this band is great, it's ours, and you have no idea what you are missing. thanks Enuff Z Nuff, you continue to blow me away.

Not quite as 'heavy' as paraphenlia (hence the .5 deduction), but another tremendous effort. This is so much better then todays music, yet the band gets no recognition! Buy this now! Cheap Trick, Beattles, Aerosmith and Kiss in a blender with better song writing sprinkled in the mix!
