Another pleasant side of the G Men!,
By klopas "Keith" (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 10 (MP3 Download)
I've been listening to Hombres G since I was a wee lad, and I must say this is a great album. The group takes a new direction this time around - quite a bit more pop rather than the quirky rock that we're used to... and I dig it! One thing that has stayed the same are the feel good (again, quirky) lyrics that always seem to bring a smile to my face. There is tons of off the wall lyrical commentary that make you go "huh?" Then, after listening to the songs a few times the lyrics begin to beautifully unravel. Love it!
Sometimes a group will mess up by experimenting with a new sound, but Hombres G did an exceptional job. In fact, there's not one song on this album that I feel like skipping. "Me siento bien" (I feel good) is a song that encompasses their move to a pop sound. It reminds me of Tom Petty's "I won't back down", but it's a great song by it's own merits. All in all, I would highly recommend this album whether you're a long time Hombres G fan, or just recently becoming interested in them. They've been around for decades and have made tons of great music. I've always admired their style - they have fun making their albums, and it's obvious that they aren't interested in pleasing the masses. Check them out!
