This is an outstanding book for BEGINNERS learning Access. This is not a book for people who have used the program and are experienced with it. Other reviewers have dinged it for not being what THEY needed, but it sounds like they just bought the wrong book for their needs. Excellent step-by-step, foolproof guidance for the non-techie, such as a manager, an assistant, etc. who needs to set up a database quickly.

It's a very easy and useful book for beginners. But it lacks some very important topics like OLE linking. I would not recommend this book for anyone who has used Access for more than one week. All information contained in this book is easily found in Access help menu.

I bought the book based on a review by others here at Amazon, and found that indeed the book was great for a beginner.I had never even opened Access before, and found the book laid out clearly what Access was used for. Compared to other books I looked at in the stores, this book does not go into any detail about the depth of Access, but then again, as a beginner, I do not want that info so soon. I highly recommend this for a starting point.
