Book Description

April 3, 2007
The five tibetan rites of rejuvenation have long been practiced by monks to slow aging, calm the mind, and strengthen the body. In The 10-Minute Rejuvenation Plan, Carolinda Witt simplifies these ancient rites and combines them with breathing, yoga, and exercise philosophies to create T5T—an accessible, modern adaptation that can be done by anyone, at any skill level, in just ten minutes a day.

T5T emphasizes the importance of the mind/body connection; the physical movement of each rite is a metaphor for the desired mental state. To help practitioners align the two, each posture is represented by one of the five elements:

Energy: The spin posture replenishes and energizes the mind and body.
Air: The leg raise posture promotes clear, focused thinking.
Water: The kneeling back bend posture unlocks the power of the subconscious mind.
Earth: The tabletop posture creates stability and balance.
Fire: The pendulum posture focuses on finding the motivation, courage, and energy to follow one’s intuition.

Quick and effective, T5T brings renewed energy, vitality, and strength to those who follow the program, making The 10-Minute Rejuvenation Plan a virtual fountain of youth.

More About the Author

After learning and establishing a personal practice of "The Five Tibetan Rites" in 2000, I started a company which taught these wonderful anti-aging movements to thousands of people and forty instructors.

From the experience of teaching so many people, I've learned how to teach anyone these rejuvenation exercises. Since people are different; and there's no 'one-size fits all' way of learning the Rites - I've created a step-by-step method which makes it easy for everyone to learn. I've added core stability to increase abdominal and lower back strength to support and protect the spine and neck; and natural full breathing to increase vitality and health.

I'd never give up my practice and highly recommend it to everyone seeking a quick and easy daily exercise routine that takes just 10 minutes a day. The benefits are great! Increased energy & vitality, improved health and well-being and greater mental clarity and focus.

Put the zing back into your step and try it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love being back in shape at 64!, July 12, 2007
This review is from: The 10-Minute Rejuvenation Plan: T5T: The Revolutionary Exercise Program That Restores Your Body and Mind (Paperback)
I've been one of those "health nuts" since 1968. Back in the mid 80's I came across an article entitled "The Fountain of Youth" (which I STILL have!) and practiced the 7 Tibetan Rites as brought back from Tibet by Col. Bradford. I was in my mid-40's and in EXCELLENT physical shape from working hard all my life, particularly since 1976 when I got into the ironworkers (as a single mom raising a daughter). After practicing the 7 Tibetan Rites I experienced lower back and neck pains... so I quit doing them so often... and still the pain persisted whenever I DID the exercises - so I stopped!

Fast forward 25 years... I retired from ironworking in 2002 and began working in an office, sitting at a desk 8-12 hours a day. Flabby muscles just don't get it... so I searched for simple exercises ... and ran across the T5T website because of a breathing comment by Mike White, who trained me to help people improve their breathing. I began an email dialogue with Carolinda Witt about T5T, and learned it's something I tried 20 years earlier, revised and improved to strengthen the back and neck as you do the postures.

I was eager to learn T5T because it's EASY, EFFECTIVE and only takes 10-15 minutes a day to keep in shape and consistently FEEL GOOD! Carolinda's book (and especially the DVD and poster) makes it so easy to follow and learn - ANYONE can use it. I like the way you start slowly, building strength up gradually and focusing on developing core strength to protect the spine. To my absolute delight, I discovered I CAN do these exercises. I also like the daily focus on breathing - the explanations in the book are really informative and clear. As a breathing coach, I know how incredibly important it is to breath correctly and Carolinda's book will certainly help most people breathe deeper, slower and fuller.

Starting slowly and building up repetitions helped me gain back physical strength, personal satisfaction and a feeling of well-being and satisfaction with my life once again! It's wonderful, in my mid-60's, to find something to be ENTHUSIASTIC about that utilizes much of what I teach in breathing development and strengthens the entire "core" of my body!. I especially LOVE that only takes 10-15 minutes a day!

4.0 out of 5 stars As good a guide to the 5 Tibetans as you are likely to find, June 9, 2007
By
This review is from: The 10-Minute Rejuvenation Plan: T5T: The Revolutionary Exercise Program That Restores Your Body and Mind (Paperback)
This particular introduction to "The 5 Tibetan Rites" distinguishes itself from previous efforts. "T5T" provides the new trainee with a structured, progressive program that allows stiff, weak, or sedentary readers who might struggle with some of the more difficult Rites to get the full benefits of the program right from the start. And eventually following the "T5T" progressions will build strength and limberness that allow the reader to complete the traditional versions of the Rites without strain or discomfort. So the book is a real boon to a lot of potential 5 Rites practitioners.

The book is beautifully photographed, and the program is nicely conceived and designed. I was especially impressed by the breakdown and scaling of progressions for the 2nd Rite (the Leg Lift), which can be problematic for people with weak abs or bad backs. The progressions for 4th Rite (the "Table") which makes some severe demands on the shoulder girdle also display a lot of insight and thought.

I only give the book 4 stars out of 5 because of the nature of the 5 Rites themselves. The 5 Tibetans are very elementary and basic exercises, and by no means as comprehensive and all embracing in their effects as their enthusiasts would have you believe. Most people will soon grow bored with such a simple routine and will need to find ways to add variety and sophistication to their health and vitality practices. That's not to say you shouldn't learn them and do them if they appeal to you; most trainees will derive good benefits from them. If 10 minutes is all you really have for your health, by all means do them.

Good book, great value for a trade paperback. If Witt writes another book in this vein, I'll certainly be interested in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Start here please!, July 3, 2007
This review is from: The 10-Minute Rejuvenation Plan: T5T: The Revolutionary Exercise Program That Restores Your Body and Mind (Paperback)
This book is a cut above the others on the Five Tibetans simply because it places the practice of the exercises within the reach of people of all ages and levels of fitness. Ms Witt has consulted with health and exercise experts to ensure that anyone wishing to learn these wonderful rites can do so safely. There is an emphasis on breathing correctly and developing core stability, and on preparation for learning the exercises so that your muscles are ready and able to do the rites correctly. There are variations on each rite which will not only guide you safely from beginner to intermediate to advanced - but will also provide alternative ways of doing each exercise should you suffer from an injury - or just find the advanced version too difficult to do.

The book is also beautifully presented and very well laid out. Ms Witt explains both the exercises and the philosophy behind T5T thoroughly and entertainingly. There is no better book to help you begin the path toward T5T.
