Not quite sure...,

Burning carbs, cutting down on carbs and generally hating carbs and blaming them for all our weight problems have all been quite a craze over the past few years, so a home workout that claims to help you get rid of them will definitely sell.
What I think is that this one is simply a collection of five very short workouts of the type we used to call "fat burning". They give fancy names to each segment (like "Carb Killer" or "Interval Burn"), but what you actually get is a series of cardio exercises you must have done more than a few times in your life. A definite advantage for an extremely uncoordinated person like myself is the fact that most moves ARE easy-to-follow (okay, so I totally lost it at the end of the kick-boxing segment, but that's just nothing compared to most cardio tapes). On the other hand, if you're like me and actually do care about what you see on the screen, you might also find it weird to say the least watching one single lady in a rather big, gym-like place jump around all alone (or it is probably just me that is used to seeing background exercisers as well). So, this workout is not amazing and neither is it bad (hence the 3 star review) - it is just one that I'll buy, complete once and then only grab on a day when I don't feel like doing any of my favorite routines.

No excuses -- Get movin'!,

I love this video! The first 4 exercises are cardio, and the last, requiring "light" (I use 5 lb.) hand weights, focuses on toning.
The instructor is clear and encouraging -- some might find her style a bit "rah rah," but I like it. She is similar to Gillian Marloth and Teighh McDonough of "Yoga Booty Ballet" fame. The 10-minute breakout structure is PERFECT for me; it means I have no excuses to avoid exercising -- who can't squeeze in 10 minutes? Now I want to get others from this series, in DVD format. |
