I just finished my first ten days with this program and i DID lose ten pounds!! I'm so excited to start phase two. I borrowed this book on a whim from the library but want to add it to my personal collection because of the "maintenance" pages and sample menus.

I like this program because:
- It's real food I was eating anyway (just in more specific amounts) (but gives you options for the powders and bars and whatnot if you want to go that route)
- the workouts are doable with no gym membership required and none were more than 30-45 minutes long
- I really did lose ten pounds in ten days - almost exactly!

I like the book because:
- it gives you explicit and illustrated lists for your workouts for each day of each phrase - very easy to follow.

I dislike this book because:
- i believe it may have been edited by a monkey - there are things in the grocery lists for certain weeks that aren't in the meal plans for those weeks, there are typos galore and other things that make the editor in me cringe.
- the "quick and easy downloadable reference chart" that is mentioned in the book for the workouts are actually *not* on the website (that i could find) but having this book with you does the trick anyway.
- there's only one "tear out" page - for the meals and workouts of phase one, not phases two and three.
- too often it felt like i was being bombarded with her other personal workout products - give it a rest, man - once would have been plenty.

My advice:
1. definitely give this program a try - stick with it and don't freak out too much about all the typos and discrepancies.
2. pay attention to the meal plans not the grocery list - do your own math for figuring out how much of something you need to buy
3. follow the workouts to the letter - you can do this.
4. Ignore all the plugs for her extra products.

I was really excited to start her diet. I like all of the foods she has you eating and was not feeling overly starving. However, the workouts are tough - especially if you haven't done weights in a long time. I am a runner and I am so sore from the first 2 days of workouts that I can barely wobble around my office. I have to say the 950 calorie diet with that kind of workout is not enough. I felt lightheaded during both workouts and actually passed out yesterday morning (day 3). I am decently in shape so was really shocked when I found myself passing out.

I have decided to continue on with the program, but I had to add more protein to the diet if I am going to continue with the workouts. I have already lost 2.6 lbs, and think this will continue to work with an additional 100-150 calories a day.

Just a warning to be careful if you find yourself feeling lightheaded.

First of all, as a `reviewer', I believe that experiences are all relative! Let me tell you what I wanted out of this book: A 10-day boost that would reverse my weight loss plateau to finish out a weight loss competition as strong as possible.

Here's what you really want to know! I started the plan at 120 lbs and have lost 4 lbs in 4 Days! For you doubters, I have been dieting over the past 10 weeks and have previously lost the `initial water weight'. So - for the rapid weight loss, getting over the plateau, and for getting me to my competitive weight loss goal - this book deserves 5 stars! However - considering my gag reflex has kicked in mid-way and the lack of variety/flexibility - I am bumping my rating to 4 stars.

When the book arrived, I immediately gravitated to the 10 x 10 plan (lose 10 pounds in 10 days) and was disappointed to see that it was the same exact food selections every day. Jackie suggests the body is comfortable eating the same foods. I won't give away Jackie's secrets, but the staples of the diet are fruit, vegetables, spelt bread, chicken and lots of water! There's breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner. There is very little cooking involved, but getting the items will require a shopping trip and some food prep. The foods can generally be bought in most grocery stores although I omitted `sprouts' as my small town does not have them available. Further, I have to tell you, I am a hungry girl and this 10 x 10 diet is only 950 calories/day! I was concerned that the calories were too light (especially when factoring in work-outs) so I did some modifications, basically increasing the veggies and adding cottage cheese as a night-time snack which did not seem to have a negative impact. Ironically the diet includes a "grocery list" that references cottage cheese but it does not appear on the diet? I added various herbs and spices (parsley, basil, cinnamon) and even a slight amount of balsamic dressing which makes the meals more flavorful. There is an H20 Booster that she adds to the water and a Craving Control Bar that is a swap option for the snacks, so you may want to visit her website to order those if you want to hit the ground running. These items are not necessary, but would provide variety to the diet. I did not utilize these items.

I would be remiss if not saying that I did find myself starving on the plan, especially after breakfast and after dinner. My workouts were more lethargic. I also failed at enlisting a buddy to do the program - all thought was it was too calorie restrictive or difficult to eat the specific foods on the program.

Anyways, the book also includes two additional 10 day plans that take the calories/day to 1,200 and then to 1,500 and also provide suggestions for maintenance. The premise is the same - eat superfoods and your body will receive all its nutritional needs despite the low calorie levels. Further, the book contains specific exercises for each of the plans, which are illustrated by pictures. I didn't incorporate these specific exercises as I do classes at the gym. I would have preferred this included a workout DVD of the moves, with one routine for each phase, even if it would have increased the price.

Overall, I consider this a good diet as a preface to a special event or vacation. This is touted as a `celebrity diet' plan and it seems to serve that purpose. Following the `diet menu' prevented me from random snacking and based on the claims of the book - revved my metabolism with the food combinations.

However, be prepared to be eating a disciplined, low calorie diet for the duration of the program. There are no allowances for substitutions or eating out. Ask yourself - how much do you want this?
