1.0 out of 5 stars Weak blender, engineered to fail, September 29, 2009

This review is from: 10-SPEED WHITE BLENDER (Applica/Black & Decker BL10475)
I was disappointed with the performance of this blender. It could not blend hard ice cream--the motor would actually stop and make an awful noise, and I could smell a burning rubber odor.

The rest of my story is pretty much the same as C. King's. I bought the blender at Sam's Club several years ago. After about a year, the plastic base of the blade assembly cracked. The "black goo" is the grease that lubricates the blade assembly. Mine didn't bleed grease after I washed it a couple of times; maybe the crack was smaller on mine than on C. King's blender. Anyhow, soon after that, I was trying to blend graham crackers when all of a sudden I could smell something burning. I poured out the graham crackers and saw that the plastic all around the blade had melted. I've now been looking for a blade for a couple of years because I can't believe that even kitchen appliances are now throw-away items. From now on, I'm going to buy the best from the start, instead of buying cheap junk that I'm going to have to throw away every couple of years.

1.0 out of 5 stars Typical B & D junk, April 20, 2009
This review is from: 10-SPEED WHITE BLENDER (Applica/Black & Decker BL10475)
Applica/Black & Decker BL10450G Crush Master 10-Speed Blender
I enjoyed this blender while it lasted but the problem is that it did not last vrey long.(about 2 years) The blender is in near perfect condition except the cutting blade became loose and started bleading black goo out of the bottom and into my mix. I tried to replace the cutting blades and found I could only get them through Black & Deckers parts department. The cost for the blade and gasket was quoted to me at $47.00. This is an outrage as the whole blender new is from $30-$40. To bad I will have to throw away a good blender because of this excessive part price. I have found all of my B & D products to have some problems and will never own another.
