First of all, This is my first nitro vehicle, initialy I could not get it started. after about 10 or so times attempting, I got it started but it took off on full throttle, and I had to go chase it. when I recovered it I saw it had stripped the spur gear. I contacted Horizon Hobby product support on a Sunday. I used their call back feature and within 20 minutes a gentelman called me back, He seemed very familiar with the kit, we did a couple of trouble shooting things& within a 10 minute conversation and He had sent out 2 new spur gears, 2 new glow plugs and the electronics for the ROSS unit (just in case, he said). All of this was sent to me free of charge. I recived the new parts the following week, turns out I had a bad glow plug. replaced that and the spur gear and got the truck fired up on the 2nd try. I've ran about 10 tanks of fuel through it now and have not had any other significant problems. THIS TRUCK IS A BLAST TO DRIVE!

Here is what I feel you need to know=
-Complicated nitro vehicle being 4 wheel drive and having the remote starting system, Not really intended for beginners, However if you have some basic mechanical knowledge and internet access, you will be just fine, I had never touched a nitro vehicle before this.
-The "tools" that come with this kit are almost useless, do yourself a favor if you dont have any, get yourself a quality set of tools. I bought a Losi 17 in 1 tool kit, a tuning screwdriver and a longer glow plug wrench and have had everything I could possibly need to work on it.
-Horizon Hobby product support is excelent A++ If you have an issue with your vehicle they will get you taken care of,even if you break something and it is not warranty related, they are very helpful at finding you the correct replacement parts. like any R/C, things wear out or break at times. This is my 2nd Losi vehicle and I will purchase more without hesitation.

This is by far the easiest Nitro R/C vehicle to startup and run right out of the box. I've got tons of R/C Nitro vehicles and this is the easiest to get running.

I hit a curb and broke the shock cap. It doesn't handle accidental abuse very well. I was kind of surprised that happened.

I was really looking forward to this truck, What a shame that since day one I have had nothing but issues! Havent even left the street with it yet let alone off road . Only real options from Horizon are 1. Figure it out yourself 2. Take it to the hobby shop and 3. Send it in. Only one off those options does not cost money. So if I cant figure it out ,it will cost me to ship it to them or to have the hobby shop fix it , even though it is brand new? I used to think Losi was top of the line, wow was i surprised.

I rated this a 5 star for educational value due to the fact that by the time I ever get it to run properly I will be an expert in all things RC Nitro!
Ready To Run? Hardly, better hope you have a good set of tools

If you decide to buy this truck hope you have good luck.

I bought this SCT because of the well known reputation of its chassis, and for the quality products that Losi builds.

As soon as I unboxed the car, I noticed several screws that were not tight. I re-tightened them, and set the gear mesh. I did not expect this from a RTR car, however, this was not a big issue. The look of the car was great, and I wanted to run it.

The break in was unsuccessful, as the ROSS starting system striped the gears as soon as I tried to start the engine. I got new gears, and had the engine break in done with a glow igniter and a bump box.

Once the bake in had been done, I went out to the track. The fuel tank is to small for this engine, and will only last about 3 or 4 laps, while most other cars could go for 5 or 6. After some internet review, I was able to put a new gas tank in (from the Losi 8ight).

On the second use, the carburetor linkage to the servo fell off, and the car took off at full speed, crashing without control and damaging the body. The linkage was changed at the LHS. Apparently the stock linkage is not tight enough.

On the third use, the ROSS gears striped again. I have been advised to ditch the whole ROSS system and install a pull start instead. Again, I was not expecting to have to change original parts on the first uses, but obviously this is a problem that everyone is having, which shows that Losi came out with a defective product.

So far, the car has proven to be highly unreliable, however, when it runs, it is a blast to use.

Son enjoys it however it goes through glow plugs pretty fast, even after leaning out the fuel mixture. Use it on a dirt track and it holds the road well.

The first thing I will say about this truck is how well built it is. I am not one to bash these vehicles, but for the few months I had it, nothing broke. The first day I ran the truck, it flipped going nearly full speed and collided with a tree roof first.....Nothing broke. It also took a header into another tree....Nothing broke. Then It cartwheeled down almost the entire length of my yard....Nothing broke. Simply put, you don't have to worry about breaking things every time you take it out.

It also handles very well. This thing takes corners like a champ considering how little tread the stock tires have. And it is QUICK. The 3.4 motor has ridiculous power. Like I stated before, the truck alone is amazing, but now I'll explain why it is a pain in the butt.

The spur gear is absolutely horrible. I have already gone through about 3 of them. I would drive the truck quite gingerly through the grass and out of no where it just dies. After closer inspection, I noticed the spur gear was completely shredded. It looked almost as if somebody took a blowtorch to it and melted off all the teeth. And this so far has happened twice. The spur gears just won't stop disintegrating. The second problem I had is the clutch spring. This truck uses a centrifugal clutch and the two shoes are held together by a thin spring. Every once in a while the spring would snap and jam the clutch. I had to take it apart to make a new link to hold the spring together.

The third and final issue I have is the most reoccurring and annoying. They need to fix the ROSS starting unit. Well, the unit itself works fine, but the problem is the one-way bearing that rotates the starting shaft on the motor.
