With the 10-Week Recovery Program, I finally did recover.,
By A Customer
This review is from: A 10-Week Recovery Program for Overcoming Panic, Anxiety, & Phobias (BOOK + AUDIO) (Paperback)
After years of unsuccessfully fighting panic attacks, I had just about given up. I was so discouraged and felt like such a failure.I had been working with a therapist, but I could only see her once every two weeks. In the meantime, my panic attacks would get worse, and at each visit, it seemed like I was starting all over again. My therapist finally recommended the Recovery Program. It includes Overcoming Panic, Anxiety, & Phobias, and it also has 5 audio tapes. You're supposed to listen to one side of a tape, about 15 minutes, every day for a week. During that week, you also use a little booklet that goes along with the tape and read in the book. I found that they reinforced each other and gave me the support I needed to keep going. The other part of the recovery program is the CalmDown relaxation tape. I used it every day in the beginning. Gradually, I learned how to relax my body and my mind without even needing the tape. Now I can do everything I want to do without the fear and confusion that made me miserable for so long.

I bought these tapes three years ago and actually captured the cassettes into MP3 files so I could carry them around in my player and listen to them. They have been very helpful and well worth the money.
Depending on your level of anxiety to begin with, you will probably listen to them longer than 10 weeks. Overcoming anxiety is sometimes like watching a glacier melt (pre-global warming.. when it took longer), but the progress is there. At different points when I've had anxiety come back (as it does cycle sometimes), I've gone back to the tapes and listened to them again.
