This is what's missing on US TV!
As a Brit living in the US for several years "Later" is the kind of TV music show I really miss. Nothing like it in the US, at least not in NYC. If your musical tastes are broad-minded this is a stunning collection. Richard Thompson (seen here backing another favorite on the folk side - Norma Waterson) is my favorite artist but when I saw the Mary C Blige...

PAL Format - unwatchable in US!
I have seen select performances represented on this disc, and they are excellent, which is why I purchased the disc. However, this DVD is in PAL (European Format), so it is unwatchable on normal US DVD players. I don't know why Amazon doesn't mention this, or better yet, sell a US NTSC version to users who log in from the US (like me). Probably a great DVD,...

As a Brit living in the US for several years "Later" is the kind of TV music show I really miss. Nothing like it in the US, at least not in NYC. If your musical tastes are broad-minded this is a stunning collection. Richard Thompson (seen here backing another favorite on the folk side - Norma Waterson) is my favorite artist but when I saw the Mary C Blige performance - not someone I would normally listen to - I was stunned! Lots of other goodies too.

This is a very good DVD. Showing music from different moments in music and diverse places in the world, all clips make clear how exciting live music can be. All sounds and instruments are played in real time in front of real audiences and you can feel it. For example you can enjoy The Verve playing Bitter Sweet.. or Robbie Williams and Bonnie Raith executing vocals and guitar in a beautiful Angels. Well you can have Bjork, Morrissey, D'Angelo, Mary J Blige playing different and extraordinary music.

I'm not sure what coverage Jools Holland's show gets west of the Atlantic -- for the uninitiated, it is an half hour (or hour?) long TV program with live music from every genre going. A "grown up version of top of the pops" as Robbie Williams says in his interview with Holland.This is a really fabulous collection of performances, Mary J Blige's "No More Drama" and R.E.M's "Country Feedback" are alone worth the asking price.

Jools Holland always made excellent shows. 10 years is not enought to give us the best, but this dvd tries to do it.
