I was waiting for some bonus credit to be added to my account before ordering and now its gone? Do they usually take credits off before the game ships?

Posted on May 1, 2010 1:39:21 PM PDT
A. Rumack says:
No. Bonus credits and gift cards are sent out after the game ships, usually within a week.

Mit says:
Yeah but the credit is no longer avaliable for this game currently.

Retrobat says:
Those are usually a limited time offer. They're usually removed once the game nears release. However, if you still want a $10 bonus, Wal-Mart is still offering a $10 bonus eGift Card with the purchase of Alan Wake.

The offers usually don't go off until it ships and it doesn't ship for another 2-3 weeks. And I don't like shopping for games at Walmart.com :|

i just hope that the people that did preorder dont get screwed. i take pics, so i have proof it WAS offered when i ordered. it was still on this page earlier today (NSMB is still on list but no offer on games page- it better give my 10$ w/ NSMB that i ordered on the 30th). never had a problem getting them to honor these game credits, but never seen one taken down either. here's the list i was referring to....

Mit says:
According to their policy, when an order is placed it marks your account as getting credit Twztid, so if the promotion is gone, your account still shows you ordered it when it had credit.

wow, this isn't fun. i had saved alan wake in my cart and was going to get it just now, but realized the gift card deal is gone now. hope they get it back before the game comes out or, sorry amazon, you're not getting a pre-order from me.

yeah i did the same. i waited till credits from BFBC2, FFXIII, & GoW3 came in. ordered it right when the gow3 one came & paid 19.99$ in amazon credit. hope it comes back up for u guys. people say the mw2 credit was 10$, they took it down for few weeks, then put it up again (then replaced w/ 20$ credit). so, maybe there is hope.

btw...just got 10$ credit for NSMB even tho they took it down, so you're probably right Mit. thanks.

This game isn't even being discounted the normal 3 bucks new releases normally get. One would suspect that means pre-orders are strong. But it could also be a glitch.

Mit says:
Probably not strong anymore now that they cut the 10 dollar credit off ;/

yeah i waited a little while for it to go down to 56.99$ (or come up in quick picks), but one of my credits expired @ the end of march so i bit.

I hope they bring the $10 credit back. I didn't preorder because I already preordered Red Dead Redemption and would be playing that game the week of May 18th. But this game has definitely peaked my interest even more. If there's no other bonuses then it's not really worth it to preorder because the bonus is useless to me (theme and avatar item). I'll wait for a sale, even if it is 56.99 I'll have the $20 from RDR.

I sent in an email asking about this and was told I'd get a reply back in 2-3 days after this was looked into. Not sure I'll get a reply back but someone is looking into it(I hope).

Amazon responded to my email and said it had been removed due to an error and that all pre-orders will receive the $10 dollar credit promotion, even if they ordered when it was not on there.

great job Mit! i, too, will be playing RDR for a long time, and considered getting RDR for ps3 so i wouldn't have to overheat my 360 (but i love the 360 controller too much). but like i said, i paid w/ game credit, & im very interested in the game itself. my thought process @ first was 'in a month+, when im done w/ RDR, ill be able to get it cheaper than $49.99'. but i decided id rather support Remedy & all the work they've done (& buying it used will not help the dev/pub). all the max payne games were good imho, so theres no way it'll flat out suck. i think it will be akin to resident evil 4 in the way it pushes the 'thriller' genre forward & having MANY copycats in the next few years (& it'll be a darn good game like re4, too). all speculation, of course.

$10 credit is still there dude. Amazon is really pushing this credit on most of the new releases coming out this time of year.

Mit says:
It's there now Rob, but at the time this was posted, it wasn't. And I say bring on the credits, it makes buying games at release much easier.

RDR is $20. Wish I had some interest, as this is a deal!
