If you want a real guide to Endo...,
By Heather "Heather" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 100 Q&A About Endometriosis (100 Questions & Answers) (Paperback)
...then this is the book for you.
Dr. David Redwine, one of the world's leading authorities on the diagnosis and groundbreaking excisional treatment of the disease, has released an honest, unflinching look at the questions and concerns regarding Endometriosis. The author takes on the myths and fallacies that continue to surround the illness, and debunks the inaccuracies that have persisted for decades (and continue to be promoted by many in the lay and professional communities today). Thought provoking, intelligent and comprehensive, this book has the bravery to question the flawed status quo that continues to shroud Endometriosis and offers frank, accurate answers - based on a lifetime of expert treatment and research - in response. So-called "conventional wisdom" about Endometriosis has largely failed the global patient population for generations. Until we question the roots of this failure and reject the misinformation that is so obviously wrong yet continues to be comfortably repeated, Endometriosis will continue to be misdiagnosed, ineffectively treated, misunderstood, and ill recognized for the insidious disease that it actually is. What is wrong with the theories of origin, upon which most treatment options have been formed? Is over-dependence on drug companies shaping the future of available therapies for Endometriosis? Can any ob/gyn generalist superficially and incompletely remove the disease with any hopes of success at relief to the patient? Why aren't more practitioners interested in Endometriosis? Are hysterectomies, menopause or pregnancies the cures? If you want answers to these controversial questions as well as an authoritative guide to understanding the disease as a whole, then you must read this book. "100 Q & As" simply must get into the hands of all patients, caregivers and practitioners alike if we are ever to make true progress into the understanding and gold standard treatment of Endometriosis. Of note: post-release editing corrections have been made by the Author as follows - Q14, page 13, bottom paragraph, first sentence. Should read, "...around the time of onset of menstruation, tracts of substrate tissue begin to change into Endometriosis..." Q87, page 103, second line from bottom. Should read, "...authors concluded that Endometriosis caused infertility and then..." Q99, page 120, top paragraph. Should read, "The emphasis on medical therapy will continue because of the fact..."

Dr. Redwine's proposed solution is so simple, yet not many doctors have the knowledge nor skills to provide millions of endo sufferers permanent relief. He debunks many of the theories of the endo causes: retrograde menstruation (yick!) being the most prominent. Instead, his one third of a century researching this disease came up with one conclusion: women are born with the lesions already outside their bodies! How controversial is that! I'm certain most doctors who teach and treat this disease will strongly deny that this is the case. Dr. Redwine has found, and so has other researchers, that the only way to treat this disease without repeat visits to the doctor is to use a laparoscopy and excise (literally, cut out) the disease from the body. Sounds simple? Well, the problem is that only about half a dozen doctors in the US has the expertise to effectively use this technique. There needs to be a revamping of how medical schools train future doctors and get them on board to learn how to a) identify any and all lesions and b) how to excise them in such a way that none of the disease is left in the body. This is a must-read for all women who are suffering from endo and to show it to their doctors. The next step is to get medical care for all people in the world, so all of us can get this life-improving surgery.

If you are diagnosed with endo or you think you may have it this is the book you need to read. Dr. Redwine goes into detail about everything involved with this disease, it gives you the power to go to your dr with knowledge and an understanding of what is really going on and the steps that need to be taken to help. Although written by a dr the book is easy to understand with his fantastic explanations of all the medical lingo and its a quick read because he answers the question in a short and concise way.

I ordered the kindle version of this book about endometriosis. I received a book about heart valve disease. I was told this book is not available for kindle at this time. They informed me that they fixed the link. It is still here listed as a kindle book and when you click on the paperbook version it now brings you to a completely different book about heart disease. Do not purchase this endometriosis book as a kindle edition- it does not exist. I am sure the actual paper book version is great.
