Book Description

June 1, 2011
The Greater Washington, D.C., capital region is not only home to some of the best art museums in the world, hundreds of art galleries, non-profit art spaces, alternative art venues, and art organizations, but it also supports one of the best visual art scenes in the nation. Celebrating this art scene, award-winning artist and prominent critic and commentator, F. Lennox Campello, has compiled works by 100 leading contemporary visual artists who represent the tens of thousands of artists working in this culturally and ethnically diverse region. Equally diverse are the artistic styles and media you will see in this catalog, the first of its kind for the capital area. With more than 640 works of art, Campello offers a primer for both the savvy art collector and the beginning collector, highlighting his selection of emerging artists who deserve more attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars 100 Artists of Washington DC September 9, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This beautifully printed book is a well laid out collection of Washington DC's contemporary visual artists. F. Lennox Campello has done an excellent job of selecting a diverse compilation of talented artists, including painters, photographers, sculptors, and installation artists. Each artist has a two page spread with a brief bio, photo of the artist, their website and several full color images of their work. It is a must have for any one wanting to know what is current in the Washington DC art scene. High marks for this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable Insight to the Art Scene August 10, 2011
Format:Hardcover
Artist & Author F Lennox (Lenny) Campello's book about the Washington, DC art scene proves to be much more than a catalog of favorite artists. The book has extremely thoughtful and well written descriptions that accompany each artist's work - which, by the way, are beautifully presented. One of the most insightful of the publisher Schiffer Books regional artist reference series, it does a great job of showcasing the visual artists in the Washington, DC area - including works of artists that might not (yet) be in the impressive museums along the Mall.
The book shows Lenny's interest and knowledge of the artists and their respective body of works - which makes the publication SO much stronger.
