Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Chicago Tribune business columnist Kleiman has produced a sure-to-be-popular compilation of job search tips and summaries of the best jobs for this decade. Best can be defined as having the most openings. Not all are high-tech: fire fighter, truck driver, and cosmetologist are listed, as are engineer, physician, and information systems manager. Salary estimates for the year 2000 range from $18,000/year for cosmetologist to $300,000/year for bank marketer. Librarians make this list with an estimated range of $40,300 to $124,000. The first third of the book is practical search advice. Then, for each occupation, Kleiman includes one-half to one-and-a-half pages of text describing the job, the minimum educational requirements and personal skills necessary, the average estimated salary for 1991 and 2000, and 150 to 750 words on what the next decades hold for the occupation. Easy to read, well documented (with 15 pages of footnotes), and offering a good index, this book is recommended for high school, two-year, and four-year colleges and all sizes of public libraries.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Pretty good synopsis of avalible jobs today., April 3, 2000
A good book, that could have been more detailed. But it is excellent if you are a college student like me struggling to decide what they are going to do with their life. This book has a long list of jobs and their salaries and is recomended.
