5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful!
Although I have been married almost l4 years, the information in this book is enlightening. No gimmicks, yet clever; not long, but covers a lot; not new information, but often important forgotten pointers. My husband and I enjoy going through it together (long in-depth books are hard to do together)by circling some of the ones we could brush up on. We have found it...

How much would you enjoy a book that has one word on each page? This is a novelty type of book. I don't think it really has any good information. Be careful.

My husband and I enjoy going through it together (long in-depth books are hard to do together)by circling some of the ones we could brush up on. We have found it to be a great, little engagement gift or anniversary remembrance. I'm even thinking about it for some family stocking stuffers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart and yet Simple, January 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The 100 Best Ways to Stay Together (Mass Market Paperback)
How nice to read about maintaining a successful relationship without having to read a lengthy book full of analysis. You get it all here, but simply and by cutting to the quick: 'Don't let little things become big things.' 'Don't overlook little things.' How true, how simple, how often forgotten. A great little gift for newly engaged or with your favorite reference books! The humor mixed with the seriousness helps me when my spouse and I read it together. We love it, and it reminds us how a little effort goes a long way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right On!!!, April 29, 1999

This review is from: The 100 Best Ways to Stay Together (Mass Market Paperback)
I usually don't read intros, boy am I glad I did with this book! The author very definitely let's you know that he understands what makes a relationship last and stay fresh. From making a deep point, "If you don't want to talk about it, it's the first thing you should talk about," to lighter, but equally important points, "Date your partner even if you're 90," covers many aspects.

I have happily been married l6 years, but I don't take the relationship for granted. A refresher, like this book, helps me to know that I'm still on track, and validates the things that we do that seem to be the glue.

We gave this book (along with the author's other book, l00 Best Ways to Meet People) to some single friends, and said to read Stay Together first, then when you meet someone...you'll know what to do!!!

The suggestions are so easy, yet so often forgotten or overlooked. Oh, the humor in the book is just great too. Don't forget to read the afterword...it's right on!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Whole Lot in a little book, March 14, 2001

This review is from: The 100 Best Ways to Stay Together (Mass Market Paperback)
At first I was amazed at how small this book was. But after reading the intro I knew this was written by someone who understands the hardships of relationships. Realistic, non-gimmicky, yet very clever, honest, and very easy reading. I think for any long-term relationship, from the newlywed to the golden years, this book has sound advice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short and to the point but a little too simplistic., November 25, 2000
This review is from: The 100 Best Ways to Stay Together (Mass Market Paperback)
This book falls into the "magic rules for success" family of relationship enhancing books. No explanation of why things work or suggestions as to how to relate to them or build them into your life. Just a list of a hundred ideas for enhancing a marriage.

This is a slim, small format book and even that disguises its size. Ninety percent of the pages contain typically only about a dozen words each.

The key question has to be, how good are the one hundred tips in this book and how well can they be put to use? When faced with that question, this book does not perform particularly well. It will take you about an hour to read this book and, if you spent that time with a couple of chapters of one of the many John Gray Mars-Venus books, you would absorb more useful information.

Perhaps this book would help someone who strongly prefers to get their information from lists but even then, you must be prepared to spend time working out what questions are posed by this list and then answering the questions.

This book will not rescue a struggling relationship, it is perhaps of most use to those starting out in a new relationship as a checklist of things that you automatically do in the early days which you need to remember to keep on doing.

I used to have a hard time maintaining a good relationship with my spouse and in-laws. Now I've learned how to communicate more effectively and the relationships I have with everyone are better.

If you like this book, try "The First Element: Secrets to Maximizing Your Energy", which also is an excellent book on how to improve your energy and relationships with everyone you know.

4.0 out of 5 stars Megen, March 13, 1999

This review is from: The 100 Best Ways to Stay Together (Mass Market Paperback)
When I first saw the book when it was shipped to my house, I was a bit disappointed. Its a very tiny book, and is dinky looking. There is an opening and an ending that are extremely adorable. And the 100 Best Ways to stay together are quite simple, but keep you in line with what you should do to help things in your relationship. Personally, it has helped my relationship , and keeps me in check with what I have to put into it...and reminds me that this is not just a take-take-take game. You have to give...and that's the most important. but all in all,i think its an adorable book. Dont judge a book by its cover...this is a prime example.

What I love about this book is that it is profound, simple, fun and very easy to relate to.In so many of the pages, the author manages to take the meat of volumes of sage advice and boil it down to a few, simple, crystal clear words. If you take his advice, I believe your marraige(or relationship) will blossom!

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful & Handy Rules to live by, June 29, 1998

This review is from: The 100 Best Ways to Stay Together (Mass Market Paperback)
It's a very handy book, simple but to the point. I keep with with me to remind me of how to make a relationship work. I showed it to my buddy and she wants to get a copy for her boyfriend. There's really nothing else to say about this book, the name tells you what it's all about. But it's worth keeping!!
