100% good!,

Jason Meadows is a rare find - his strong voice, good looks, and love of traditional country and country-rock evoke George Strait and Chris LeDoux, but he has a driving musical style all his own. His previous claim to fame was as first runner-up in the 2005 edition of "Nashville Star." Many people believe he was robbed. Here's hoping this album brings him the recognition that his talent so richly deserves.

To start, doesn't the cover of the CD look computer generated? Like something from a video game. It just doesn't look right. hahaha
Anyway, the CD on a whole is kind of mediocre. The first song really is a great song. It's singable, and I don't understand why it never charted. Maybe it sounds too much like other stuff that's out there. Maybe the timing was wrong, I don't know. The next song, "Country as a dirt clod" is what sets this album apart from others. It's not that it's a bad song, it's just, well, Goofy. A dirt clod? It sounds akward in the song and takes away from the flow. Plus, every country singer has a song like this on their album. The next song, Big Shot is kind of the same goofiness. 18 video tapes is definitely the best song on the album. Once again, I don't know why this didn't chart. It's really sad and will bring a tear to your eye, especially as a guy. After that the album kind of flows into every other country album. It's like, he's not really sure what type of country artist he wants to be. Is he a rocker? Old school? If he would have stuck with 100% cowboy/18 video tapes sound he would be great. The last song is my second favorite. It's another killer country rock song. once again, if he just would have stuck with this sound, he'd probably be selling more albums. This album suffers from "filler". There's three really good songs and the rest are just there to take up the space on the CD.

I normally find silver linings in country albums as long as I feel there is desire and a semblance of passion put in to the work, but I could not find any of that in Jason Meadow's "100% Cowboy". This album is a collection of half (or 1/3)-hearted written songs sung through Nashville-manufactured vocals and image. One run-through of the entire work produced only one semi-gem "San Antone Alone" which was not even really good either. Majority of the songs made me cringe the first time I listened to them, a good example being "18 Video Tapes" - about life's lessons learned through, well, 18 video tapes. At least 2 songs screamed HEY, I'M A COWBOY AND I CAN DO COUNTRY MUSIC, TOO! - "100% Cowboy" and "Country as a Dirt Clod" but none of them worked. Hands-down, this experiment is a failure and should go down as one of the worst projects by the folks in Nashville - listent to Jessica Simpson's release last year as another member of this category. I will not subject myself to more punishment by giving this one more go-round.

I gave this album a 4 because it just has to be perfect for me to give it a 5. I have never seen Nashville Star, so when I bought this I did not know he was on it. I just bought the album because I am overseas and there is not very many country cd's over here. I am really only a fan of Texas Country music, so when I purchased this album I wasn't really expecting much since I've never heard of him. I was very surprised though when I started listening. He has a very good sound more to the tune of traditional country. I would definitely recommend this album to buy. I think we will be seeing more of this guy in the future.

I don't own the album because frankly I have looked for something from this guy since I saw him on Nashville Star (and yes, he shoul have won) but there was nothing for a long time. So I figured he disappeared like most other NS runner ups or even winners for that matter. But I did hear one of his singles today on the radio and was very excited he finally cut an album. The reason I gave it 5 stars is a)to offset prior reviewer (what on earth does the artist's ego have to do with anything?), b) because I loved him on NS and c) because the single I heard was every bit as good as I remember him being back then. A lot of these people from live shows end up not playing well on radio. And yes, I will probably buy the CD shortly.

I hadn't heard him before but the album seemed interesting. It was. His voice is pleasant and his material and style is very traditional and I expect good things of him once he begins to get solid "air-play" on the radio.

I wonder if the writer in the prior review is a relative of Meadows???? I find the statement that someone was "robbed" a very negative statement about the person who was robbed. Why bring down the winner? I didn't care for Meadows because he always acted like he was a "Big Shot". He came across as ungenuine, egotisical and very hot on himself. The best thing about his CD is that one doesn't have to see him and see those characteristics come across. His character doesn't seem to fit with most of the artists in country music.
