I got this book at our local library and the first thing that went through my mind was, "Finally, a book with hip patterns!" The apparel in this book are geared towards the younger crowd: they're revealing, slinky, and trendy. But because there are so many patterns, there really is something for everyone.

And that takes me to the biggest advantage of this book - the sheer number of patterns in it. I found things for children, for teens, for the home, for mothers and sisters, even for pets. Actually, I think the only thing missing were things for men. (This really isn't a problem for me since my husband hates sweaters and hats anyway.)

At first glance, the patterns look like they are medium to advanced skill levels. And here, I think is the downfall. I liked so many patterns but they looked so difficult and complicated. Maybe I am wrong but a skill level rating for each pattern would have benefited the book. That way, I don't find out half way into the project that I am in over my head.

I would say that most of the project are apparel and accessories with a few afghans and home decor items interspearsed. I have not yet tried to make anything from this book so I don't know how accurate or clear the directions are.

I do have one warning though: This book has NO DIRECTIONS for beginners. It doesn't explain how to make the stitches, how to start a chain, NOTHING. It is merely a pattern book so if you do buy it, make sure you have a reference book in case you have to look up one of the stitches.

4.0 out of 5 stars good mix, January 8, 2007

As a bargain book, I highly recommend this one. Some items are taken from other sources (Twilley), but since there are 100 projects, there's enough to make the $6 a good purchase. I especially liked the entrelac skull cap, flower garden scarf, Dutch treat afghan, plum granny ripple afghan,
harlequin vest, magnificent in mesh jacket, snowflake earring, pretty posies cardi for child, stole from Braha, ribbon fringe shawl.
No schematics, no charts. Basic book. Don't need instructions for beginners as one can find them somewhere else easily.

Most of the clothing patterns seem to be for those 20 something and younger crowd tho. Luckily, I can use most of them as my starting point and make them into something I can wear! LOL!

4.0 out of 5 stars Provider Excellent, Product Flawed, January 6, 2009

The provider for this product was prompt in responding and I was greatly pleased with them. I have been crocheting for over 40 years. I have tried four of the patterns and have found errors in two of them. The publisher did not check/correct the pattern errors before printing and marketing this product.

LOVED 100 KNITTING PROJECTS SO I WAS EXPECTING THIS BOOK TO BE JUST AS GOOD, IT IS NOT. THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD BOOK FOR SOMEONE WHO IS NEW TO CROCHETING, BUT FOR THOSE WITH MORE EXPERIENCE - TAKE A PASS ON THIS ONE.

My favorite designs were the two thread bedspreads included, and it was too bad that the editors or designer forgot to include directions as to how many motifs down and across for the Rose one; guess I'll have to figure that out myself. There are some cute backback designs, also...I could recommend paying no more than $6 used.

I recieved this book for a gift, and was not too impressed with it. Most of the patterns are either overly trendy, or are dowdy. Out of 100 patterns, there's only about 5 that I would actually want to make. I'm glad I didn't spend my own money on this book.

I love this book really, it is full of a variety of things to crochet and it does certainly fit my rule of more than 7 things in it that I would consider making in the future. I would also put this book on my "encouragement list" meaning that this would be a really good book to give to a new crocheter as it would show all the different directions you can really take your crochet.

I purchased this book based on the reviews here. I was totally disappointed with every project in this book. I think the only thing missing is a crocheted toilet paper cover with a frog on it. They do not have that in this book, but every other cliche craft crochet item is in it.

I returned it the next day.
