Book Description

March 5, 2008
Hello

My name is Stefan G. Bucher and you're looking at a collection of my monsters.

For 100 days, I filmed myself putting a few drops of ink on a piece of paper each day and transforming the resulting blot into a new monster. Every night I posted the result on my website dailymonster.com and stood back in wonder as visitors from all over the world told me the amazing stories behind each creature.

WHAT'S INSIDE THIS BOOK?

  • 100 Daily Monsters
  • 257 of my favorite monster stories
  • 1 DVD featuring all 100 Daily Monster video clips, 701 bonus comments and stories, one Real Time Monster, a special video message from yours truly, and 10 Open Source Ink Blots that let you make your own Daily Monsters.
GO AHEAD! TAKE A LOOK INSIDE!
The monsters aren't going to bite...

Well ... hang on ... they actually might. But I made sure they all had their rabies shots before I sent the book to print. Just look out for Monsters 44 and 57. And for No.79. He just gets too excited. And No.82. He's got a circular saw for a hand, and he's off his medication. Other than that you should be fine!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Monster of a Phenomenon, June 22, 2008

Once upon a time, a control enthusiast with a pen drew himself a monster--and the rest is history.

You can test-flight this book at Bucher's site, www.dailymonster.com, where all 200 of the monsters he eventually released still live--going to their jobs, having their babies, reading and writing and dancing and taking over the world--doing all the things monsters do. I encourage you to do so, and then buy this book.

Someday someone you are talking to will rail against the web, talk about all the terrible things on it, all the bad people. Then you can point to 100 Days of Monsters, and you can say, "Things like THIS--people from all over the world sharing a creative moment, interacting to make something beautiful and funny and playful--how would you make something like THIS happen, if not for the internet?" And if not for, it goes without saying, Stefan G. Bucher and his band of authors.

I came to the game too late to be part of the book--but oh, it was a lovely thing to have my child come downstairs every morning and say, "Mom! Did you monster yet?"

What a wonderful time. I thank you, Stefan. You did good. You didn't just talk the talk, you walked the walk. You followed your heart, and it shows. :)

This book is phenomenal! Stefan Bucher's work is so creative and funny. I love it! I look at this book every day before I go in to work in the morning. It is so creative, and the DVD that comes with the book is really great too! I would recommend this book to anyone inspired by the creativity of others, and to anyone who just enjoys a good laugh and awesome drawings!! Also, the comments from real message boards that are included in some pages of the book are really interesting too! It's great to see that an artist can be so appreciative of the opinions of the public, and actually use them in his book.
