3.0 out of 5 stars Dramatic but graphic
The photos are amazing but I was not expecting some of the graphic nature on a lot of these photos (dead bodies mainly). I was hoping for a coffee table book but because it is so graphic and I have young children, I am not going to be able to display.

I bought this book for a class I teach, and it turned out wonderfully. We focused on disturbing photos for this particular unit, and this book had quite a few new photos for me to use and to choose from. The great thing about this book is that it also has photos that are "good" - meaning that there are not simply bloody war photos, but also photos from important days in history that do not "disturb" in the same sense. For example, we get photos from the Olympics right alongside important scientific finds, not just wartime. This book really does seem to tell a history, and while it's a good coffee table book, and one many people will get a kick out of looking at, it's also a book you can use in the classroom, which makes it versatile and worth the money. I would have liked to know that it was so big and heavy before buying it, but the size and bulk of the product is only important really if you plan on carrying it long distances (like across campus).
