King of the hatecore heap!,
By Destroy Boy (www.ohboydestroy.com) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 100 Demons (Audio CD)
For those of you unfamiliar with 100 Demons, they play a tougher, harder edged variant of Jersey
style metalcore. That means tough guy lyrics about honor, loyalty, backing up your bros and a generally pugilistic attitude towards your fellow man. All this running on top of bursts of pummeling metallic hardcore intersected with crushing low end sludgy breakdowns. Sound like fun? Seriously, this is a punishing step up from their already accomplished debut. The sound here is BIGGER and more brutal than their debut but that's only the half of it. It's hard to think this band could come across as more hateful than their last record but this new album leaves them unrivaled in the hatecore world. The breakdowns are simply colossal, the drums are air tight and the vocals are seething with hatred. Put this all together and you have a band literally pushing the outer limits of this genre into darker, more deadly terrain. Like their last record this sucker is an anger filled ride from start to finish. There's no ballads, no interludes, nothing to stop the torrent of hate spewing out of your speakers. While every song here is satisfyingly similar in its approach the closer "Never Surrender Virtue" is the absolute summation of the music and values of this band. Equal parts rage and violence wrapped in a sincere loyalty to family, all delivered in an uncompromising blend of bass heavy breakdowns and fierce hardcore. All in all, this is the current king of the hill release for fans of hatecore/tough guy metalcore. There's nobody even in the same league with these guys although another one of my favorites How It Ends comes close. Still, this is the must have release for this genre. Hardcore Tsunami,

I think this band might be better then Hatebreed. In fact they are. Better writing, better guitar work along with insane vocals and machine gun drum sounds unlike any other of its musical kind!!!
Here is the bottom line. If you like Hatebreed, Killswitch, and other hardcore bands, this is the best the genre has to offer. 100 Demons should be bigger then Hatebreed. And if they are not any time soon, they need new management.

Not just another growl-fest,
By Modern Fix (United States) - See all my reviews

I'm into boating these days. Well, rafting really. There's been no surf, so my buddies and I have invested in some rubber rafts that we take out on the ocean. What this means is that I will probably drown and I hope I don't go to hell because then I would have to hang out with 100 Demons and these guys are seriously scary. While their sound reminds me of both Slayer and Hatebreed, they are certainly no derivative act. 100 Demons are capable of squeezing maximum power and savage imagery into every second of the twenty-six minute release; the whole effort dripping with unbelievably thick, massive crunches of noise. With tons of unresolved issues and unadulterated aggression, 100 Demons take out their tortured souls and mercilessly punish you with their heavy, horrifying sound. Huge thank yous are in order to producer Zeuss for making something that sounds like music, rather than putting out just another growl-fest.
