5.0 out of 5 stars Great selection of classics
I am casual listener of classical music. As other reviewers have already mentioned this album is terrific value for anyone wanting to listen to classical music but are not sure what to listen to. If any of the music catches your fancy then you can do research about particular composer and learn more about their works.

2.0 out of 5 stars Average but closer to poor for best classical piece
I haven't hardly looked through your selection, but immediately as soon as you choosed Beethovens 5th Symphony,
then I just had to rate it low. I mean, Beethoven knows how to create a triumphant masterpiece, but surely it's not the best one out of every single piece known to man. Really, this piece is the only one that the non-classical fans know of. That being;...

I have been very satisfied with this purchase and listen often as just background music.

I bought Volume 1 a few months ago and the quality of some of the recordings was questionable, but I am about halfway through this volume and the quality is phenomenal! I also love how they include all of the different parts of each work. There are some real gems in here. Also the price is right. For $5.99 how can you go wrong?

I would highly recommend this to anybody who either enjoys classical music, or doesn't have any. This makes wonderful background music. I personally am going to use this when I study and when I'm writing my college papers. A+

2.0 out of 5 stars Average but closer to poor for best classical piece, November 7, 2011

That being; rock fans, hippies, punk fans, emos, goths, and of course the most annoying fans that everyone hates - pop fans. ALL of them know of 5th symphony as it is commonly used in the crappy adverts they watch every day of the weeks. But just because Beethoven influenced the majority of the wrong type of people, doesn't mean it isn't a masterpiece. But it does open the common classical fan's eyes to see the imperfectness of Beethoven's symphonic mind.
My choices, without another droning on paragraph of explanation, would be Variations by Frederic Chopin. I am unsure as to what the exact name of the piece is, but what I am sure, is that it is a duo-piece for piano. (two pianist required)
For Concerto, Piano Concerto No.1 by Frederic Chopin.
For Film Score, Schindler's List by John Williams.
For Piano Painting, The Aquariam by Saint-Saens
For Overture, 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky.
For Sadness, Nocturne No.2 (famously used in Orange advert) by Chopin and Nocturne No.1 F Major
For Sadness also, Lere Gymnopedie by Satie
For Opera, Queen of the Night by Mozart
For Royalty setting, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.5
For Extremist piano, Liszt Mephisto Waltz
For Ragtime, Cascades by Scott Joplin
For Italian musical style, Funiculi Funicula

There's more somewhere at the back of my mind. I'll put these pieces in just for notification of an un popular legend. (unpopular in my area anyways)

Camille Saint Saens

The Swan
Bacchanale
Berceuse
