This is my favorite gift to give close friends when they first get engaged. It's the advice we would all get from our grandparents if we were smart enough to ask, and wise enough to listen to what they have learned over the course of their marriages.

Americans go to school for so many things, but school does not teach how to have a good marriage. Where to look? How about those who have good marriages! This book is wonderful as it gives a brief lesson from people who know what they are talking about.

I found this book to be encouraging. You always hear about how marriage is horrible, it is nice to see that marriages can be happy and lasting.

Fifty years of experience in any of life's "callings" is, in my opinion, grounds to be crowned an "expert". The stories are simple, wise, touching, and inspirational. My husband and I found this book while browsing in Hallmark one day, and we continue to make time to sit together and read it. It's a great idea as a wedding or engagement gift for others, but it's a wonderful gift to give to yourself!!
