5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely phenomenal follow-up to Whiskey Angel February 11, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
Cruz Contreras proved that he can write and sing compelling, heartfelt music with The Black Lillies' first album, Whiskey Angel. Since that album's release in 2009, the band has set out on several cross-country tours, packed sold-out venues, played festivals ranging from Bonnaroo Music + Arts to Pickathon, been featured on the venerable nationally-broadcast NPR show Mountain Stage, appeared on stages as storied as the historic Ryman Auditorium, and have had two concert performances broadcast nationwide on PBS. Through those experiences, Contreras honed his writing skills and the band tightened up - becoming a true force of nature. 100 Miles of Wreckage proves that there are no boundaries in roots music, and that seasoned musicians can masterfully switch gears from swampy blues rock to the delicate sensitivity of a heartbreaking ballad. The entire album is fantastic, but highlights include a guest appearance by Jill Andrews on The Arrow - an aching tale of love destroyed - and the Bonnaroo-inspired mini-rock opera Tall Trees, in which Tom Pryor's incredible musicianship is demonstrated through ample guitar solos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Run don't walk to get this May 21, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
One of the most amazing sounds I have had the privilege to go and see live. There is not a bad track on this album, and the vocals of Cruz and Trisha harmonizing, and Tom on variety of guitars makes this easily one of my favorite bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars 100 happy faces!!! :) May 15, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
After seeing this group on SUN STUDIOS SESSIONS on PBS (live) I was very impressed. So much so, the next day I bought the CD. I usually don't play music on Sunday morning (before breakfast). I made an exception to play this CD. Actually several times that same day. And now it's played quite often because I want to share it with people. Every song is exceptional. I simply love this CD. I'm mostly into Blues...but I really love good music of any type or genru, you name it.
I'm 71 years old...and have heard a lot of music. Growing up in LA allows a lot of music choices. I pick this as special!!!
