Jill encourages th reader to have fun. In this book as the previous small plates book, the book divided into varitals with foods that are natural matches. There are great hints for tweaks to make pairings work even better. I've given copies as gifts to people who are thrilled with their results.

I'm a dry red wine girl. My extended family likes white and on the sweet side. Thanks to this book I've found a way to make everyone happy. Okay, it involves me cooking white wine friendly meals but I no longer cringe when see a bottle of white put on the table. Jill's even opening my mind (and palate) to rose -- a wine I once equated with soda pop.

Thanks to this book I learned my red-wine palate likes the spicing that goes with white wine. I just shouldn't drink it alone. Who knew? Uh, that would be Jill S Hough.

Great recipes, down to earth wine advice and stellar photography make this little book a go-to resource. I definitely have to give her small plates book a try next. I'm sure I'll discover something else that will expand my wine collection and my culinary horizons.

First pick from the whole book. Wonderful choice. Easy and wonderful. Paired it with Rex Goliath Pinto Nior and it worked beautifully! Going to pick out something each weekend to try! Wonderful book!!
