5.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A BLAST!
purchased this for my 5 year old son & we have all had such a blast building & playing with it! Couldn't keep the adults away from it at his birthday party! One set is perfect, but we're going to be purchasing at least one more 100 piece set to build longer & curvy-er mazes! Super fun for everyone (even the 5 year old)!

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating and painful !
I don't see how people can rate this toy highly. Half the time the pieces just fall apart from each other spontaneously, the other times you need to fight with them to get them apart. AND THEN YOU GET CUT! I got cut and note that "Jennifer" in her five-star August 12 '03 review of the 100 piece said that she, her son, and her neighbor have all been cut. Also note that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, with one caveat, August 12, 2003

This is a great toy for my children, ages 5-1/2 and 8. It's open-ended and perfect for engineering/visually oriented kids. My sons love to race their marbles and watch them move down the tracks. The tunnels are a neat feature, and I understand there are add on pieces you can buy, including loops. My sons have spent several hours designing and perfecting their layouts. One word of caution, though, is that the pieces can be difficult to take apart, and upon seperating them, my son, our neighbor and I have all cut our fingers. We're still trying to figure out the secret to taking the structures apart more efficiently and easily.

Also note that Hattie said in her four-star April '07 review of the 200 piece set that, "You really need some supporting blocks under your structure". That's in line with my claim that the thing falls apart too easily. And I feel that even with Duplos/Megablocks, that its hard to support the "incline" pieces. You can't build pictured structures exactly as they're shown without having them fall apart. A whole cantilever section will just drop off like arms off a zombie in some B movie. And there are no step-by-step instructions (like in so many other construction toys) to show what to use to make a pictured structure (at least that's true in the case of my 100 piece set). That's sort of fine if the idea is to "create your own", but it's a pain when your kid is saying, "make me that one" and you can't quite make out what's in the picture. Actually I think they don't add instructions because instructions would sort of be saying, "Here's a structure that works", but they don't work, b/c they fall apart. !@#$%^&*

We got this little toy at Christmas and have not stopped using it since! This is something no one would think of getting, but every kid will love it! With the ability to attach on to duplo's it is a great add-on toy. Don't think twice about getting this; order it now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love how this toy ties in with Duplos, July 30, 2000

Finally, someone figured out that we don't want to spend money on expensive specialized parts to build the supporting towers for a marble run game! This game fits together with ordinary Duplos (or Megablocks) to give the run some height. My children and I love it! But it could be even better if they included more "corner" pieces. I would also like to have some fancier pieces to create more options for the marble paths, such as a single piece that turns the corner or goes straight, or some kind of "Y". And it is difficult to align the "drop-through" over another run, because of how the Duplo-like pieces fit together.
