5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
If you only purchase one writing book, this is a winner. I have used it successfully with ninth grade remedial reading classes. The selections are short and interesting. I do give them more time than is suggested. I find that setting the timer for seven minutes works best for my classes. 1.0 out of 5 stars Never got it
Sadly, I never received this book. The seller has not responded to my email yet. Perhaps, to be fair, that is because of the holidays? I hope so.

This review is from: 100 Quickwrites: Fast and Effective Freewriting Exercises that Build Students' Confidence, Develop Their Fluency, and Bring Out the Writer in Every Student (Paperback)
If you only purchase one writing book, this is a winner. I have used it successfully with ninth grade remedial reading classes. The selections are short and interesting. I do give them more time than is suggested. I find that setting the timer for seven minutes works best for my classes. Students find it so much easier to express their thoughts on paper after reading or listening to selections in this book. This isn't a typical "story starters" book. The literature can be used as an introduction to genre studies, characterization, imagery, point-of-view, and literary analysis as well as for writing activities.

...to get reluctant writers to write. The pieces in this book are thought-provoking and beautiful, and students will want to echo the power behind this writing. Bravo.

I am a high school English teacher and use this book throughout the whole year. Linda Reif provides some quickwrites written by her students, and other thoughtful writers. Any grade will appreciate these thought provoking quickwrites.
