I have just finished reading Robert Tuchman's "100 Sporting Events You Must See Live" and it is a MUST HAVE for sports fans and travel enthusiasts.

I have purchased 10 copies as gifts for friends and family. A bookshelf must.

When I went through this book, I found I had been to 8 of the 100 sporting events. Now, with the help of Robert Tuchman, I can start planning on going to the other 92! He gives the reader fantastic advice about where to obtain tickets, where to stay, where to eat. It's a great resource. Kentucky Derby here I come...

Excellent compilation of top sporting events with detailed suggestions on traveling, accomodations, and dining. I highly recommend to all sports enthusiasts.

100 Sporting Events You Must See Live is a no-brainer gift for the sports lover in your life. Robert Tuchman's book, subtitled An Insider's Guide To Creating The Sports Experience Of A Lifetime, guides the average person in doing just that.

The book lists 100 different amazing sports events. Everything is here from the Masters and Super Bowl and World Cup to the Kentucky Derby, Westminister Dog Show, Calgary Stampede, Boston Marathon, Monaco Grand Prix, Ironman World Championship, and the most important down here in Tarheel country, the UNC vs. Duke basketball game.

For each event, Tuchman gives valuable information. Categories include where the event is held, when, the significance and history of the event, notable athletes participating and how tickets are obtained. He details travel arrangements, and even provides hotel and restaurants close by the action.

This book is sure to be a favorite with any sports lover. Meticulously researched, it provides help for those interested in going in person to these events, and a pleasant fantasy for those unable to go as they page through the book. This book is recommended for sports lovers of any variety, and would be a welcome gift.

Purchased for my dad who had been to probably about 1/2 the events listed in the book. He seemed to really like it, maybe he'll go to the other half.

If you're a sports fan or even just a fan of travel (even better if you are both), this book is a must-read. Tuchman takes you from your couch cushion, subway seat or wherever else you may be sitting when you are reading this book and makes you feel like you are sitting in the crowd, observing these events first-hand. I really love the fact that this is a book that I will use as a resource forever, or at least until I see all 100 events in person! I highly suggest that you buy this book, get a pen handy, and start checking off the list.

In today's world it isn't just about going to the game, it's about the experience. Tuchman's book gives you the insider scoop on what plate you should try and what nearby events are worth checking out. This book can be a handy tool for any sport enthusiast. Definitely worth it!

Definitely a fun book to read. I'd put this in my top-10 sports books list for sure. I especially liked the "Best Way to Watch the Action" segments. These write-ups make it seem like you are getting the inside scoop from a buddy who has been going for years.

I just finished Robert Tuchman's 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live. What a great resource! I was thoroughly impressed as it not only listed details about the event but also gave information on where to stay, restaurants in the area etc. I am ready to go out and buy several copies to give as gifts! Tuchman left no stone unturned. He literally makes it easy for you to pick up and go as everything is already researched for you!

While there may be some debate about the specific events which belong in the top 100 there is no debate about the fun and value that this book offers. The book is far more than a list of sporting events and the places they are held in as the author provides specifics that are not easy to find without doing significant research from several sources. It is chock-full of helpful and interesting information such as the best route to take to the event, where to park, how to get tickets or access and my personal favorite, what seats provide what experience (i.e. what is the sunny side of Wrigley Field). The author has done his homework and this truly insider's guide provides details that will make a difference for those considering or planning to attend any of the events.
I also really liked learning more about events such as the "Running of the Bulls" that I know about and have seen highlights of but will likely not ever get to. And one more reason (as if you need one) to get this book: it makes a great conversation piece for discussing which events made the list and those that did not. Enjoy!!!
