This is a wonderful book for dog-lovers about our best friends! This thick book is filled full of BEAUTIFUL black and white photographs (of which the majority have not previously been seen) of all different kinds of dogs and their humans, ranging from yesteryear to present day. Accompanying the wonderful photos are lovely quotes and poems about these little furry miracles that God has blessed us with. I highly recommend this book! Enjoy!

Saw this book listed on a high-end designers book store offering and was intrigued by the contents and reviews, but not the high price tag which was purported to be a big discount special. Went to Amazon (of course) and found it for much less, low priced shipping, and naturally great service! Also ordered another copy at the same time 'used' for about 10% of the 'special' price. Both arrived quickly and in excellent condition - both look brand new! This is a great book great for any dog lover with wonderfully detailed and unique photographs that span nearly a century. The compilation of photos is the best I have ever seen and are unique, happy, demonstrative and just plain fabulous. Hard to put down, and you can't just thumb through it without having to stop for a longer look at each picture. One of a very few books that are successful with photographs that say so much. Good book for any age and highly recommended.

i love this book and any dog lover will love the beautiful/artfull photographs therein! NOT ONLY that there are visual surprises with celebrities and armed forces!

There are some lovely photos of dogs in here. There is also an abundance of nudity and one picture of a child crying over his dead pet. The worst is the photo of the decaying dog...yes I said DECAYING DOG! I want to toss this book as soon as possible. I obliterated the dead animal photo so maybe someone would want the book. I doubt it tho.

I do not know why I buy books that are entitled "1000 (fill in the blank)". It's a weird compulsion. So, this book falls under the category. I like dogs. 1000 dogs is a lot of dogs, but the book makes it seem like six or seven hundred max.
