This review is from: 1000 Piece Bob Byerley Puzzle-The Gift (Toy)
"The Gift" is a delightful 'teaser'.
I bought the jigsaw version last year and I am still not sure what I am looking at. Is it a painting? Is it a photograph? Did Bob Byerley take a photograph of a 1920s garage and then paint over it to get this marvelous result? The details are so real, you would think you were looking at a photograph. The old man in his overalls outside his motorcycle garage looks as if he is going to wave bye-bye to the kids any moment. He is clearly amused by their antics, and is probably glad to see the back of "The Gift". Even the man's dog is having a good laugh! The kids themselves are like all of Bob Byerley's kids, good-looking and innocent. They have just been given the gift of an ancient, decrepit motorcycle, and are excitedly pulling it away in an equally decrepit-looking wagon. What on earth are they going to do with it! It doesn't even have a front wheel! Never mind, you can see by their faces that they have big plans for it. If I were old enough it would be like a trip down memory lane, to a time of uncomplicated children leading happy and uncomplicated lives. So typically Bob Byerley. My wife and I took parts of three days to do this 1000-piece puzzle, and every moment was a pleasure. Peter Vaughan
