4 Stars Really... Giving 5 to Counteract Dumb Reviews,

Please ignore the prior review as the reviewer knows nothing about model kits. This is another quality model kit originally released by Polar Lights when they were an independent company and then again released by Round 2 under the Polar Lights label. It originally was released at the same time the 1:1000 Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise came out and although this is a decent kit for the money, it's not nearly as accurate nor does it offer the customization options that the Enterprise does.
Features: Snap Together: Yes, it is indeed Snap together but if I recall correctly even the instructions recommend gluing your joints together. I would never tell anyone to just snap-together a model because if you snap together even the best snap-together model it will look like garbage. To build this or any other model kit correctly you should always use glue. Paint Not Required: Paint isn't required on any model kit. It's not a toy, it's a piece of art that you make and how you want to detail it is up to you. If you like the basic one color green/gray plastic that it's molded, hey knock yourself out but don't expect that this is going to be studio accurate paint job out of the box like a Bandai kit. 1/1000 Scale: Coming in at just under 12", it's the perfect size for display when complete. My biggest problem with the kit is the lack of detail but overall the actual proportions and design is correct. Really 4 stars however giving it 5 to counteract the ridiculous 1 star rating.

If your into the original Star Trek series than this ship would appeal to you. It can be built as either a Klingon bird of prey or as one of two versions of the Romulin ships.I decided not to paint my version because I like the color of the ship as it is. The stand is painted and you can paint the ship if you want to. Yes it does say snap together but even with those types of kits, it is always better to glue them together. A little modeling glue will hold the parts together and make the fit tighter and the appearance of the kit more attractive.

Absolute GARBAGE!,

I haven't done a model in 30 years since I was a kid. I bought this for my young son for us to do together. It was his first model. Price at Michael's crafts was 19.99 but I got it for 12 bucks with a coupon. It wasn't even worth the 12 bucks. It's supposed to snap together which is a total joke. The pieces don't fit together and if you find a way to jam them together they don't STAY together. I completed the thing in less than half an hour but if you pick it up or touch it the wrong way it simply falls apart. Also...the box says painting not required but the kit is TEAL BLUE!!! Why didn't they just make it out of gray plastic?? Painting IS required. Don't buy!!!!
