5.0 out of 5 stars doubledrive-excellent!
I heard of this band about a year ago. I got a cd sampler from the Hard Rock cafe and they happened to be on it. I listened to the song a million times and even figured it out on my guitar. So I looked for the cd for about three months and couldn't find it. Then I went to a record store and i found it and bought it. My 5 favorite songs off the record are: "Belief...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mildly entertaining band
While DoubleDrive is no longer around, this cd is an average one to add to your collection. It has its ups and downs, as most cd's do from bands that had short lifespans, but in this case the ups are slightly better than the downs.

1000 Yard Stare has some good strength to its songs, with some good work on the guitar that makes some of the songs catchy...

I heard of this band about a year ago. I got a cd sampler from the Hard Rock cafe and they happened to be on it. I listened to the song a million times and even figured it out on my guitar. So I looked for the cd for about three months and couldn't find it. Then I went to a record store and i found it and bought it. My 5 favorite songs off the record are: "Belief System," "1,000 yard stare," "Hell," "Vamp," and "Reason." My only complaint about the cd is after the song "Stand By" There's about 76 tracks of silence before the hidden track. Is still a great cd though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Never lost but found again, January 8, 2000

I saw dD open for Queensryche a few months ago here in SLC; They Rocked! I bought "1000 yd stare" soon after the concert. Each time I listen and it is frequently, I am more impressed with band and their all aspects of their music. I am glad to see a group like Double Drive arrive on the music scene. It says hard rock did not die or go away. I wish this group much success and am anxiously awaiting their next album. Enough of my ranting, buy the cd!

NEVER, have I heard an album sound this good from start to finish. I first heard doubleDrive late night on my local rock radio station, at 3:30 in the morning on my paper route. The song I heard was their first single "Tattooed Bruise (Here and There)". I was blown away! The song was so good, I had to backtrack the houses I missed throwing a paper to, because I was too into the song! The next day I rocketed down to my local record store, and sure enough, it had only been out a week; just sitting there on the shelf just waiting for me to grab it. If you like straight forward ROCK & ROLL, then this is YOUR album. Great lyrics, with a frontman whos voice makes God nervous. Make sure you check out "1,000 Yard Stare." It's VERY much worth it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique, but the same, November 30, 1999

Cool album. Good song writing.

At first they sounded like every other 90's band. But after few listens, I saw dD for what they are - great song writers. I saw the band open for Queensryche here in Portland and they were very good live as well.

FYI - there are alot of Queensryche fans talking about these guys. Queensryche opened some doors for dD. I'm excited to see dD evolve into a popular band. It's inevitable. They're too good not to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every cent!, May 30, 2001

dD blew through Madison opening for Tesla. I had never heard of the band but from the opening song I was very impressed. The Songs were great and full of energy. The guitars and vocals were very memorable and distictive and the bass rocked. The drummer - Mike Froedge was AMAZING. He pretty much captivated me the entire set along with the people I went with. A friend commented that "That drummer is a god!". My wife commented that the drumming was a great example of "Zen drumming". This CD is great but make sure to try to catch these guys live - this band deserves much success. Their website needs some work though - they deserve better than what they are getting there.

5.0 out of 5 stars It takes a lot to get 5 stars, July 28, 2000

My goodness, where should I start? This is just an awesome cd all around. Very tight and crunchy guitars with melodic(and distinctive) vocals. I really cannot compare them to any band out there as they have a fresh, original sound. This cd came out in 1999 and it got my nod for best cd of 1999.

I very rarely give out 5 stars, but this cd is that good. I really hope Dd will not be one of those bands that fall by the wayside because their record company failed to promote them enough. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that does not happen! Cannot say enough about this cd and Doubledrive, they rule!

5.0 out of 5 stars Going straight to the TOP!, November 23, 1999

Wow, what to say about this band! I have seen them play a few times live at the house of blues here in orlando, even hung with band. They are really something! Such good attitudes, and so great to their fans. These guys really have something to offer. The music is awesome! They have a well balance, between hard hitting, even flowing, and then being able to bring it down and give ya chills! 1000yard stare for example can do that to ya. I urge anyone who hasn't heard them, CHECK THEM OUT! I am glad I got know the guys right before they got big, and they are going to explode just give them some time to let the word out!

5.0 out of 5 stars It Just Plain Rocks!!!, June 10, 2005
This review is from: 1000 Yard Stare (Audio CD)
I bought this CD on the strength of the song "1000 Yard Stare". If you like that song you will
love this album! The entire CD is very much in the same vein as that song. It just plain rocks!!
Great hard rock melodies, choruses, and vocals. If 1000 Yard Stare had been released in 2004/05
instead of 1999 I think it would have been much bigger. With bands like Crossfade, Shinedown,
Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle making hard rock more popular, this album would fit right into
that melodic hard rock genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars THICK, December 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: 1000 Yard Stare (Audio CD)
First it was "tattooed bruise" and I was hooked. Then I got the album and found it to be an all-star among mainstream melodic rock acts. This band really put togethor some killer tracks. This one pumps the entire time. One side note, if your a Pushmonkey or Nickelback fan and haven't picked this up, please do so now. Its top notch to my ears and I constantly slip it in and out of my cd case. Its catchy and remains one of my favorites. Thanks!
