Compromising on the color is worth it.

The sakura is a very rich pink, kind of a cherry blossom (sakura) or raspberry color.

As the earlier poster said, this is not Red, it is actually a rose or pink color. I was also deceived by the color shown on the web pages. Other than that it has a excellent build quality, nice HDD capacity, wireless N, bluetooth. and Also speedy. I will be shortly upgrading the RAM so that it can speedup further.

I just recently got this computer and am very pleased with it, however I was disappointed to see that this is not really red at all but very pink. I don't really mind, just that I did not realize until it was opened out of its packaging and Amazon would have charged me 15% plus shipping to return it, so not worth the $80 to get a different one. I highly recommend the 1000H, just not the sakura red.

I bought this from another site, but decided to rate it here because it's the first place I always look to for reviews.

the product is excellent, and as i am typing on it right now, the only thing that TRULY bothers me, is the shift key..its original location on other laptops and pcs are what my fingers are use to, but on here lies the page up button...it is one thing my fingers have not gotten use to, hence the lack of capitalization in my review.
PRO --the color is super cute, great for females...the cover is sleek and rose colored, embedded on the cover are laser drawn flowers..these flowers continue onto the wrist hold and mouse area.
CON-- webcam is great, but has there is no software in the computer to use it with. u can only use the webcam through different websites that allow webcam options, such as skype. but u cant take pics and vids and save them to files on the comp,...this can be done after purchasing seperate software.
PRO--it comes with xp microsoft works software and star office software. it is also preloaded with skype and media player, adobe player, nd eee storage.
I think its a super product...i had an acer before, but upon its arrival, it was defective...so i returned it. but im almost glad it was defective, becaue i could not get use to the small 8.9 inch size...i could hardly put it on my lap nd be comfortable with it. also, the keys were very tight. i think the asus is a much better product...i cant put mine down!

I bought this model in December 2008, along with the memory upgrade, thinking "Red", and found it "Pink" on arrival. I didn't mind, but the wife looked it and said "Pink!! = Mine!!", and so it's mostly hers. We've had it for over 18 months and have had absolutely zero problems with it. We use it with a Logitech Traveller Mouse because we both prefer mice to any touch-pads, but the pad and buttons work fine. Everyone complains about the small Shift key, but I'd prefer to emphasize that the left-hand keys (Ctrl, Fn, Win, Alt) are correctly arranged, unlike a lot of systems these days, including the eeeBox, which have Fn, Ctrl, Win, Alt, meaning problems cutting and pasting!

Like one of the other reviewers, it's been dropped - one time while open and running off a hospital bed and onto the iron feet of a table that patients eat off. After that we had some vertical coloured lines on the screen for about a month and looked into replacing the screen ... but the screen repaired itself - nice feature!

I use it for ripping cassettes and records and then burning CDs, and find that it is a little slow writing large (e.g. 1.5 GB) WAVe files to disc, but that is literally the only complaint I can think of! We're looking at buying another.

After owning this netbook for half a year now, I can confidently say this is a quality, sturdy laptop. It's been tossed, dropped, and thrown up on, and yet it operates fine and without a glitch or scratch.

I guess part of the reason so much has happened is that it's small and easy to carry around, and as a student I use it outside a lot. One day I came home holding groceries in one hand, and the netbook and a textbook in the other. Mistaking it for my textbook due to their equally small size, I carelessly tossed the netbook onto to the floor. It wasn't until I saw a flash of pink flying through the air that I realized I had made a horrible mistake. Thankfully there wasn't even a scratch because the floor was carpeted. Another time, it fell off my table when I tripped on the power cord (okay, maybe I'm just clumsy), there was a nasty, flap sound of spat. Once again the laptop survived; all that came of it was that the keyboard was cleaned as all the debris fell out.

What really impressed me was the last incident, when a drunk friend threw up all over it. And I don't mean some of her vomit splashed onto the netbook, I mean she had it in her lap when she threw up and the poor thing got a full dousing. The USB drives, etc were filled, and the keyboard was just nasty... After thoroughly sanitizing it with Lysol and rubbing alcohol 6-7 times, and airing it out over night, it is once again good as new. Miraculously I think. Although a long time will pass before I can get over the fact that she threw up all over it...

Stories aside, I love everything about it. It took me a week to get used to its keyboard though, so the tiny right shift key doesn't bother me anymore. The touchpad is centered to the laptop, not the keyboard.
